I haven't stayed there, but you are aware that it is basically a businessman's hotel -- along the busy US 41 with little within walking distance? Is that what you are looking for?
I've been to merchandise showings there in hotel rooms which looked very nice.

Not what I am looking for.
My husband and I will be in Naples in Nov. We would like to stay on the beach; I am considering LaPlaya but from what I have read there is not much to do in the immediate area. We did not want to get a car, we don't mind walking (reasonable distance).
Is there anything right on the beach within walking distance to 3rd St or 5th Avenue...where the action is ?

With all due respect, yes there are "adequate" restaurants on Marco, but nothing to compare with the places in Naples on Third and Fifth. If you want to drive 30 to 45 minutes to and from restaurants every night, I guess it could work. Sadly, there really isn't anything on the beach within walking distance of much of anything in Naples.
You could stay at the Inn on Fifth in the heart of the "action" and walk to the beach -- about 5 blocks away. Or stay at the Trianon or Bellasera in downtown. Or stay at the Edgewater or Naples Beach Hotel, but still need to drive for the most part.
One thing I've always said is that in Florida you can rent a car for a week for little more than you'll pay for round trip transportation to and from the Ft. Myers airport. So if parking isn't expensive (and it isn't at a lot of places, including free parking in all of downtown Naples), having a car still might be your best bet and you won't feel so limited.

Seconding everything NeoPatrick said.
Parking is available at the end of almost every street that touches the beach in Naples for a very low price, though you can't lie in bed until 11 and expect a space.
Addng re Marco: it is a LOT farther from the airport, a major issue unless you are driving to Florida.
People whine about traffic in Naples in season, but Nov and early Dec are not season, and it really isn't that bad even in season except for I-75 and US 41 at certain times.

I realize that my comment about free parking in Naples was a little misleading. There are meters and you pay to park near the beach. Take lots of quarters. But all other parking is free within the downtown area, including large garages below the Plaza on Third Street South, and a huge one off Fifth Avenue South at Eighth Street. And their are no meters along the major streets -- only at the beach. One of the few free things in Naples -- downtown parking!

I did consider staying in Marco, but not realistic since we will be in Naples for a wedding and really didn't want to travel back and forth just for dinner. We'll make do with a rental.
Thanks once again for helping me decide where to stay, I am leaning towards LaPlaya.
