Hiking in vicinity of St. George, Utah in early March...
I'm going to be in St. George for 3-4 days in early March, and I'm looking for some 1-4 hr hiking opportunities, within about a 50 mile radius of St. George. Any recommendations?

Zion is just under an hour away from St. George, that is a perfect spot for hiking. You could also visit Pine Valley, but might have to check the weather still in March, sometimes they get a lot of snow. Pretty area though.

My first choice would be Zion National Park. Many great hikes and it's only 40 scenic miles away.
Snow Canyon State Park is just north of St. George and a great location to hike too.
Valley of fire is 90 miles and more like 1 1/2 hours away.

If you go to Zion, try tohe Kolob section of the park. We enjoyed this much more than the primary section which we found too crowded for us in early Oct. The hike to the Kolob arch was amazing. Toylo creek trail is shorter (3 12 to 4 hrs) and also amazing. We saw only one other set of hikers on a Sat. on that trail, and there is a big pay-off at the end.

Thanks for the info! Now I have a list! I've been to Zion but wasn't sure about March; will put that on the top of the list; Kolob section sounds good. We didn't have/take the time for that last September.
