Help with Santa Fe hotels

Hi,

We will be in Santa Fe for 3 nights in May and are trying to decide on a hotel. We want something that is convenient to the Plaza. The ones we are deciding between are Alexanders Inn, Inn on the Alameda, Grant Corner Inn and La Posada. They are all around the $150-200 range. I know a few are B&B's so they include breakfast but this is not a huge consideration.

Looking for recommendation as to which one is the nicest!

Thanks!

I've stayed at La Posada and the Grant Corner Inn and would definitely return to La Posada. Perhaps my expecatations were too high for the Grant Corner Inn but I thought the room was cramped and even a tad dingy. Maybe the Victorian decor paled in comparison to the vibrant south west colors. Anyway, I doubt I'd return.

I don't know the much about the other two places you mentioned but I like the neighborhoods they're in between the Plaza and Canyon Road.

I stayed at the Alexander Inn a couple of times, they have different properties. The owner is great, but I had a bad experience with making reservations. Most of the B&B's don't like one night reservations and we wanted to stay for one night. I really enjoyed the Grand Corner in. I slept like a baby in a bed away from home and the breakfast in the AM was really good. They have hot water and tea and coffee readily available. Parking is kind of limited there unless you are a guest...one spot per room. La Posada is wonderful. I would return to the last two, but wouldn't go back to Alexander's Inn. There are too many places competing for my $'s and things are expensive in Santa Fe. Have fun!

We have stayed at the Inn on the Alameda and would highly recommend it. The room decor was fairly standard for a mid-level hotel, but there was a cute gas kiva-style fireplace and a little patio with table and chairs. It was very quiet--no street noise, and none from inside the hotel, either. Location is closer to Canyon Road than the Plaza, but only a 3 block walk to the latter. Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful with directions, restaurant reservations and advice, etc. But the real selling point for me is the breakfast, which is served in a sunny dining room off the lobby: a vast array of fresh fruit and pastries both savory and sweet (such as chile cheese croisants), as well as cereals, juices, etc. It was a great way to start the day and went way beyond the usual complimentray continental b'fast. Whatever you decide, enjoy your trip!
