Help with plans for cheap Disneyland trip...

The Disneyland Hotel is so expensive. But my teen kids would like to stay near the park. Any tips on cheaper, safe hotel and cheap park hopper tickets? Any tips, suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also, what do you think is the least attended day of the week in the summer? Tuesday? Wednesday? Or is everyday jam packed in the summer...thanks.

every day is jam packed - so that is out of the way.

Now - about accomodations -- there are soooooooo many inexpensive hotels/motels w/i walking distance or a very short shuttle ride of the main gates. Any would be safe and convenient. What is your budget? Do you belong to AAA? Their Southern Calif Tour Book is a great resource because it lists almost all of them w/ a spotting map and all necessary info. Just about every property has family rooms wher ethe kids stay free.

My family has always enjoyed the Candy Cane Inn, although I think the word has long been out on this place. They may not be the bargain that they used to be, but still way better than the Disney Hotels. If you can get the AAA guide for Southern Califorina you'll find plenty of places and Park Hopper Packs. It may be worth a membership if you don't have one.

My favorite thus far is the Ayres Hotel Anaheim. They don't run a shuttle anymore, unfortunately.

We did a similar trip recently. Try the Howard Johnson across the street. Nice Pool, shuttle or walking distance to park and restaurants nearby. Go to the HoJo website and see if there's still 10 or 15% discount coupon. As for the Park, definitely buy the multi-park pass. We were able to do both parks in one very long day. Also try mousesaver.com website to see what discounts or coupons are available

I like to focus on the ones in the 1600 and 1700 block of Harbor Ave: Desert Inn & Suites, Best Western Anaheim Inn & Anaheim Plaza Hotel. Also, DH got a good rate at the Paradise Pier a couple years ago. It's still an easy walk to Downtown Disney and the parks, though not as close as Disneyland hotel.
