Help with monastery 4th Ave NYC(Chelsea)
Someone mentioned to me today a monastery on 4th street in Chelsea. There is apparently a lovely courtyard with big growth trees open to the public. Anyone know where this is and what is called?

Don't know of any monastery - but 4th ST is in the Village - not Chelsea. Park Avenue South is sometimes called Fourth Avenue - but that would be more the east village. Have you googled for monasteries in NYC - there can;t be many.

I think you are referring to General Theological Seminary on 9th Ave between 20th and 21st Sts.

I am not aware that they let anyone in without a specific purpose.

The Desmond Tutu Center is in Chelsea, and is housed in gothic buildings surrounding a courtyard.
