Help with Camden Maine, Please

We are driving from Nova Scotia and have been looking at the Bar Harbor area. The farthest south we will be able to get will be Camden. I am quite interested in Glenmoor by-the-Sea. Would like any opinions about this property as well as casual dining choices nearby.
Also, please feel free to offer alternative in Bar Harbor - but not the pricier ones - something in the same range as Glenmoor.

Thanks so much in advance for any advice!!!

The Glenmoor is in Lincolnville, not in the center of Camden so you are not walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Camden is a short drive away. The Glenmoor is a sprawling, family style resort. Nothing quite this style in Bar Harbor though the Asticou Inn in nearby Northeast Harbor might be worth a look.

The outdoor scenes in the movie "In the Bedroom" were filmed near Camden and will give you a feel for the area.

The Lobster Pound restaurant is very casual, and good. Downtown Camden we enjoy the Village Restaurant, right on the water.

Thanks for the reply. Since we are only going to be in the area for one night, Our biggest concerns are a nice room and a good CASUAL meal. I appreciate the advice about the Lobster Pound. Do you have any knowledge of Cappy's? We are kind of using this for a "scouting" opportunity for a trip when we can stay longer. Also, I would have like to stayed at the Norumbega Inn based on the pictures on the internet but it was full for that night. Any comments about that Inn (again, for future trips)?

Thanks again for any advice!

Camden is very "touristy", to the extreme, we live here and avoid it if at all possible, tho you will enjoy walking around and visiting the shops. Be sure to check out Belfast rather than go right past on your way to Camden. It's small, very nice shops, no inflated prices and well worth the visit. We love the Whales Tooth Pub in Lincolnville Beach. It's right next to the Lobster Pound, but it is where the locals go and we prefer it. It is cozy and has great offerings on their chalkboard menu. Enjoy your trip!

Cappy's was good for lunch. Chowder wass excellent. So were the sandwiches and seafood/pasta dishes.

We enjoyed our stay at the Glenmoor but didn't have any ocean view. We stayed in a unit right near the office and I thought it was one of the best 'rooms' we've ever had. There was a wall between the sitting area and the beds so I could read without disturbing my sleeping partner. A nice continental breakfast was delivered each morning. Don't forget to drive to the top of Mt Battie for one of the best views in Maine. It overlooks Camden Harbor and is a perfect place for a picnic lunch.

Thanks Donna F. for putting my mind at ease!

In addition to Cappy's, I have also found the Lobster Pound and Bayview Lobster. These both look nice for a casual evening meal.

Commments anyone?

Also in Cappy´s besides their excellent
clam chowder, try the mussels in tomato sauce. Out of this world...
Enjoy!
