Kids, specially little tikes, would have a real thing trying to say mawwy cwistmas. Hard to feature some little guy trying to say it. Original idea however.

Scarlett,

Years ago a friend of mine had a chihuahua who thought "roll over" meant "come here". When they let her out at night, the wife would have to stand at the front door yelling "Susie, roll over!" to get the dog to come back inside.

oh, are you sure they don't speak english, in which case merry christmas would be the same. You got to be kidding. but beside the point of whether that would make a good dog's name. Still cant see it. Thanks anyway, and all the rest, coz it was an intersting chat..

My uncle named his dog Ilio. (Dog in Hawaiian) I own Ilio's sister and I named her Popoki. (Cat in Hawaiian)

Ok, I'll let you use my middle name, if you like..........."Pilikia". Think my parents had their hands full or what???

some dogs we've had or known:
Pono (right or proper, as in things are pono when everyone agrees)
Mana- power or spirit
kolohe (naughty); kolo for short
Wahine (woman)
nani (pretty)
moana (sea)
malama (moon)
mana (power)
and of course there are lots of girl dogs named Lani, Hoku, and Pua. If you want to give her a really local name call her Sistah or add -Girl to the end of any name (lani-girl, hoku-girl, etc)!

If you read Fodors often, how about Moco Loco in honor of the legendary thread?

If it were a male, you could name it "Danno".
