I have a very special, maybe strange sounding request from a New Yorker, or anyone visiting soon.

OK, first off, this is not a troll post, but rather a serious request. My best friend and I visited New York City in May of this year. While we were in Times Square, we came upon a gentleman who was creating paintings of the Manhattan skyline using spray paint. He was selling them for $20 U.S. If you have seen him in action, you will know who I am referring to.

Here is my dilemma: My girlfriend regrets terribly that she did not purchase one of the paintings while we were there. She talks about it all the time. I would absolutely love to get one of these paintings for her as a gift, but living up here in Canada, I have no way to acquire one. And, I don't even know of course, if he is still in Times Square doing his paintings.

I realize I may get flamed for making such a request on this board, but that's ok, thick skinned! I can't think of any other way to purchase this. If anyone out there would be willing to help me acquire one of these paintings, I will gladly post my e-mail address and we can exchange info and payment arrangements that way, of course I would be willing to pay more than the $20 for the foot work involved. I understand that this is an odd request, and I apologize in advance to those who don't take kindly to it.
Thank You
:-S

Your request is fine, and maybe someone can help you, but I hope you realize that there are a couple dozen of these guys and a number of them "perform" near Times Square, so no we don't necessarily know which one you mean. But if it's all the same to you, their paintings all come out pretty much alike as they all use the same fascinating technique of creating those pictures.

Thank you for the additional info Patrick. We only saw one guy doing this so assumed he was "unique". Still, it wouldn't make a difference if it was him in particular or another one if they come out looking pretty much the same.

Atilla, try doing a Google search using "spray paint paintings." You might find someone who's selling something similar.

Hi Atilla
I live in Southern Ontario (Waterdown) and am heading to New York next Saturday. I'd be happy to pick one up for you. If you want to contact me directly at [email protected] we can make arrangments. I certainly wouldn't expect anything more than whatever the cost to buy it and to send it to you. It's so nice that you are doing this and I know that feeling of "I should have bought something" and didn't.

I picked up some magnets (beautiful - amazing photographs) at a table along the street. When I got home, I wished I had thought to purchase some for myself. What do you know, there was a "www.." sticker on the cellophane sleeve. The photographer has a website! Amazingly, the fellow turns out to be Russian and I was sending them to an aquaintance in Russia.

Who knows? Maybe one of the spray paint artists has a website.

Atilla: My friends and I were in NYC in July and I bought one of these, as did one of my girlfriends. We thought this was such a cool process! I was also in Honolulu a few weeks ago, and saw a man doing the same thing!

Thank you all for your kind replies. Thanks to a very kind, sweet lady, Janette, I will hopefully have one of these posters within the next couple of weeks to give to my friend.
