I am totally enjoying reading these suggestions. What a country we live in, to have so many diverse possibilities!

Keep'em coming, please. There are four of us deciding this, so the more the merrier!

Sallyjane, is Hawaii too far for the time you have off? That's where we went last year for Christmas and just loved it.(Big Island) Unfortunately, this year we just don't have that much time off, so we are still searching too. It's getting late though. Many places are booked.

Sadly (b/c I'm longing to go to Hawaii), that's probably too far. Daughter #1 just returned to her newspaper job after completing two years in the Peace Corps and son-in-law (other daughter) has a brand new job. Neither can get away for more than a few days. Christmas 2006?!

Santa Fe! A resort on Colorado sounds great, too, but the non-skiers might not like it as much as they would Santa Fe

SF and Monterey Peninsula are too likely to be rainy at Xmas, one of my very fave destinations otherwise.

You will let us know where you decide to go, won't you?

If I wanted a city experience, I would go to Chicago. I think it would be a wonderful place to go at Christmas.

If I wanted a non-city experience, I would go to Sun Valley, ID or to Carmel, CA - both beautiful, "villagey" places.

I cannot think of a country with greater possibilities! It's proving soooo difficult to decide. It's not like the 4 of us disagree where to go...we EACH keep changing our minds. Thanks so much for the thoughts.I'll get back with you as soon as we can decide! (Isn't it nice that sometimes in life we get to have such "difficult" decisions!)

BTW, Cassandra, YOU brought a tear to MY eye. Thanks for the empathy. It didn't go unnoted...just had to process it a bit before I could respond. Guess I'm not as healed as I think sometimes....
