Help! Single mom in need of vacation!
I am in need of a relaxing vacation the first part of July. I will be childless for a week and need something tropical, where a single mom can just vegetate with a good book, get some sun and not have to be very social.
Florida? Mexico? Others? What are some good places for that time of year?
Any all-inclusive suggestions that aren't couples-oriented or over-the-top singles resorts?

I think you will have fun wherever you go. I think Mexico will be too hot. and Florida too Humid. You might like Maui, or Southern California. I would recommend Maui, Stay in Wailea or Kihei there are a lot of Condos check out www.crhmaui.com for the Mana Kai or the Kihei surfside, they are on a beach with ocean views and great sunset, very friendly atmosphere and safe and are reasonable, or if you have the money The Kea lani or four seasons are very nice. I go often and stay in Kihei, I like the beach in front of the four seasons its a 5 min drive. You could read, swim and relax no one will bother you. If you snorkel there are a lot of great spots nearby, ask any dive shop for a free map. Have fun.

It will be hot in Florida in July but that means rates will be low. How about Treasure Island, FL? Book a room at the Thunderbird. Reasonable rates. Want something more upscale? Go for the Don Cesar at St. Pete Beach.

Even though this is a US board, I would suggest Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. They have hundreds of all-inclusive resort which are not specifically singles or couples oriented. You might still be swarmed with other people kids since this is school vacation time.

In addition, I would think about Charleston, SC, Savannah or Hilton Head. Places where you can hang out at a cafe and enjoy people watching (esp. in Savannah and Charleston), and find some interesting things to do in case you want a break from vegetating. Charleston, Savannah and HH have "semi tropical" weather and will certainly be warm in July.
