For the Fresno arrival traveller
who asked some questions...

You've picked a glorious time to visit Yosemite! I was married there in mid-May & waterfalls are at max!! Dogwood in bloom, etc., etc.

Maybe staying at the Wawona would be a nice gentle intro to the park...could take it easy & do more around Mariposa Grove...and if wanting to do Glacier Point at night...do it *that* night, instead? (perhaps don't go all the way to the valley floor, but go for the tunnel view only?) Kick back...slow down that day?

Then, locate onto the Valley Floor the 2nd night if at all possible. (if only have 2 nights total) Do hikes there...and the next day if you have any time before having to leave.

When you say good comments about Yosemite Lodge...do you mean the Valley one, or Yosemite View? (outside the park in El Portal?)

As far as rooms go...we've always had luck w/space, if you just keep checking back for cancellations. Most esp. when the cancellation period comes up for those particular dates. Can do it online.

Yosemite Lodge itself is very centrally located on the Valley Floor. Just is sort of boring, but truly very convenient to everything!

As far as the Ahwahnee...? Ah...it's just so COOL! But as others have said, for the high room prices,
can ALSO be enjoyed for just its food & hanging around the lounge/patio for a bit.
(if one wants to save money for other activities)

But, it's well worth a lunch, dinner OR brunch...all depending on one's tastes! Lunch is nice, if not hiking, as it's quieter there. (and prices reasonable)

Enjoy your Spring trip to Yosemite!!
Have you ever been before?

Yes, I did mean Yosemite View, not YL. Neither of uf have ever been there before. Probably will be the first and only for my brother. Am very happy to hear that it may be a glorious time. Would absolutely love blooming dogwoods.

Yes...dogwoods...
and not knowing where you're coming from...these are Pacific dogwood, too! (I grew up in the Midwest...and they are entirely different, but also very beautiful.)

These being larger blooms, really feel like they are floating in the air....
not tons of trees. Just a nice added touch to an already very special place!

Again, highly recommend at least one night on the Valley Floor itself...
is nice to note the granite walls late at night surrounding you...
and first thing as you head for breakfast, as well.

Don't stress too much about the accomodations themselves (whatever you might get in the Park). Look at the pot calling the kettle black! ;-)
But this is because we've been numerous times, and it's to try & make it more different for us, this time.

But whatever the case, like others have noted...what's *outside* is what you're mostly going for! Probably won't spend too much time in the rooms...

I lived 26 years in Virginia until about a year and a half ago.

The king-spa rooms at Y-View sound good.
