Angie -- if you want to go camping, or you want to hit the road for more than two hours, GO FOR IT!!! Please don't let the posters discourage you. Just because someone on this board may "balk" at a campground bathroom, it doesn't mean your kids will. Let's face it, kids will go anywhere at that age...sometimes even on the living room floor Point is, if you and your hubby want to have an adventure, do it!! Yes, it's easy to keep kids happy. Butit's always fun to see how excited kids get when you tell them you're in a new state

I have camped with young kids every year for many years. One year with an 8 year old, 6 yr. old twins, 5 yr. old and a 3 mos. old. I have never had any problems except when someone was toilet training. Kids love camping. They also love taking any trip with their parents. Go wherever you can afford and feel comfortable about your ability to tolerate the added work. Have a great time. Our family always has!

I drove across I-90 with an 18 month old. It wasn't the most enjoyable trip I've ever taken, but it wasn't the kid's fault.
