Not exactly sure what you are looking for...as with the other postings, you have my sympathy. I have spent more time on the "Eastern Shore" than in Mobile. I have always liked The Bakery in Mobile...good food and a decent bar. Fairhope has a couple of decent restaurants and bars. Judge Roy Bean's is worth checking out...not quite sure how to describe it...dumpy bar, cheap beer, good live music, and a goat walking around inside...it is Alabama after all. Lulu's, between Fairhope and Magnolia Springs is great on the weekends...it is a dumpy fish shack owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister. If you make a trek to the beach, The Florabama is not to be missed...dumpy bar, cheap beer, good music, no goat.

Florabama is not in Mobile, AL. You will find the best hospitality, restaurants and food in Mobile, AL. Those Yankees who talk about "sucks" don't know what good food, beautiful scenery and fun is because they apparently haven't been to Alabama, much less Mobile, AL. Call the Chamber of Commerce and find out who they recommend. The town is full of good restaurants.

No Mary, The Florabama is not in Mobile...it is just past the Florida/Alabama state line in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Perdido Beach, whatever...and I do not think I implied that it was in Mobile. If I were stuck in Mobile on a sunny weekend I would certainly make the 30-45 minute "trek" over to the beach to check the place out. I love you people on this website who are quick to criticize everyone and never seem to be able to cough up any constructive specifics.

Sorry you are stuck there, Butch. I grew up on the other side of the Bay from Mobile. I'd have to recommend eating on the Eastern Shore (Fairhope). Gambino's is good (F'hope), but haven't been in a while. I 2nd the Judge's comment (they forgot to mention the cat that sleeps on the bar), as well as the fact that the Florabama is a must see place (mullet tossing contest in the fall is great!). For Mobile, try the Original Oyster House on the causeway. I'd have to say there are many good "hole-in-the-wall" places, you just need to ask around. There should be good places to eat in the Spring Hill area.
