HELP FINDING BEST HOTEL IN OAHU

My husband and I are going to Oahu for 10 days in October--
I lookes at hotel reviews online and it seems like the hotels on Waikiki Beach leave much to desire--Or the rooms are in need of remodeling, or service is not very good, etc.
I would like to stay in a beautiful(and quiet) hotel with all the amenities.
Help?

Check out the Kahala Mandarin Oriental, and take a closer look at the Halekulani in Waikiki. I can't imagine anyone having anything negative to say about the service or rooms at the Halekulani, and it really is quiet within the hotel.

I would normally agree with the Halekulani recommendation, but that entire area of Lewers and Beach Walk is under major renovation and construction for blocks around. So don't think anywhere in that general area of Waikiki is going to be particularly appealing for awhile to come.

I learned about this on another Fodors thread even showing a couple websites about the project.

My wife and I just got back. We stayed at the Hyatt Waikiki. It was wonderful. Very big though. We had no problems with service, or hotel conditions. We did not notice the noise being too bad. I would recommend a Regency Club room if Finances allow.

The Marriott Ihilani on the west side of the island fits your description of bueautiful and quiet with all the amenities. Gorgeous place with lagoons in front of the hotel.

hivenezuela,
well i live on oahu and i can tell you that your best shot is the kahala mandarin oriental. It's just off the waialae golf course where the sony open is played and at the end of the street that wraps around diamond head. It is very, very quiet. Plus it's close to waikiki if you seek some night life. The ihilani is another beautiful resort at the west end of oahu, but about a 45minute drive to downtown and any reasonable night life. If all you're gonna do is lie in bed and hang around the hotel, then either is good. If you're seeking some night life and reasonablefine restaurants stay at Kahala Mandarin. The Halekulani is consistently rated the top hotel and restaurant in Hawaii, but it's in the middle of waikiki and will cost you some $$$$.
That's not to say the other two hotels I mentioned are cheap because they are not!!
The Halekulani will also give you a quiet night's rest and is very romantic, if cost is no object.
good luck

Here is a website I send to friends that want to visit Hawaii. You can plug in the dates you are going and it gives you a choice of over 70 hotels on Oahu (less on other islands) that you can look at. You can sort by class, price, their picks, etc. Look at the hotels you may be interested in. Click on 'more hotel info'. Then you can look at the location, amenities, etc. You don't have to book the trip. But the site gives a lot of hotel info.
I agree with some of the other posts. Halekulani, Outrigger Reef On The Beach, and other hotels along Lewers and Beachwalk Streets have a lot of construction in the area. The Pacific Beach, Waikiki Sunset, Outrigger Waikiki, Sheraton Moana/Surfrider are all nice.

I've stayed at the Outrigger. Wonderful. Great location. This June we're staying at the Royal Hawaiian. Can't wait!
