Hi - I plan to visit in October but I would like to arrange my accomodation now. This is a surprise trip to New York for my husband and we both newcomers to Manhattan.

I have seen lots of good feedback on the The Michelangelo but I am also looking at the Helmsley Park Lane as an alternative. Does anyone have any information or feedback that could help me decide which is the better of the two options?

Do a search on both hotels, each has been discussed extensively. My recollection indicates everyone raves about the Michaelangelo. The Park Lane is great if you get a park view on a high floor. If you are getting the same or similar rate, the Michaelangelo is probably the better choice.

Thanks Frank. The deal for Helmsley is $50 a night more which is fine if there is a good reason to head there. Sounds like Michelangelo has a lot going for it though.
