Hawthorn Suites?

I'm planning a trip to Quilt festival in November and will have a car. Does anyone know anything about the Hawthorn Suites on Southwest Freeway? The price in the package looks good and, since we are not going to be in the room much, we don't need lots of ammenities but we do want it to be clean! Any help is appreciated.

Don't know where Southwest Freeway is, but I've stayed at 2 Hawthorne Suites---one in Austin, TX and 1 in Madison, WI. Thought both were great. Clean, 2-room suite, very nice.

I, too, have not stayed at this particular Hawthorn Suites, but like the above post, I have stayed at others and have yet to be dissappointed. I think it's a really good bet.

Thanks to both of you for the help. I'll stick with the plan and stop worrying!

Southwest freeway.in Houston , right? Be careful driving at night. My husband just returned from business and had to stay near Hobby. Many hotels have bars on the windows and razor wire fences. He had a reservation at the Radisson, but changed it to the Hawthorne. If you don't go out at night, you'll be fine. Otherwise I think I'd stay near the Galleria (Double Tree , Crowne Plaza and Marriott are right there). Are you a woman by yourself or will your husband accompany you? Don't want to alarm you, but woman to woman, we have to think about safety, too!

Thanks, Sister, for the info. A bit scarey! We are two women and we will be travelling at night so maybe I had better re-think this one. Sometimes, I guess, the price is too good to be true!

I'm replying to my own post. After Sister's reply I did some more checking. Called the hotel, it's no longer a Hawthorn Suites and the woman there told me I should not stay there, that it is not a safe place. So I was able to change my package and Expedia did not charge me a penalty! I found a Holiday Inn by the Galleria that looks perfect.
