Escargot,
What a great and very detailed report. I hope you sent this to Hawks Cay Management and posted this on every other board you can find.

I have sent a letter to management and am waiting to hear what they say, if anything.

Cooperfamily: I hope you have a wonderful experience - and you may, some have - my hope is for the place to get more consistent. If you will have a car you will have plenty of dining options and other things for kids to do too, although I think they will be able to busy themselves there after 2 wks in Orlando I'm sure they'll be happy to swim and relax and do 'water activities' - and maybe it will be different during their more active season of April - either way, I wish you a fun time and a good bed !

We experienced the same rude responses from the women in the coffee shop... Even my ten year old noticed it. Would like to see coffee shop opened in evening hours for a cup of cappuccino or coffee or ice cream if you'd like. We don't always like to have dessert immediately after dinner and when we tried to be seated for dessert at the Puerto Cayo, despite there being many empty tables, we were told they couldn't accommodate us. I do agree that this is not a resort for vacationing adults, if you're looking for something to do after hours. My overall impression (our stay was 2/16 - 2/22) was that they were just gearing up for prime season. After complaining no food/drinks were available they did set up barbeque/drink area by the children's pool. Children's activity leaders were very good, though we never dropped our daughter off at kid's club she enjoyed arts and crafts activities, but was disappointed family bingo was canceled. We stayed in a villa, as we had in a previous visit, and had no trouble with cleaniness or beds. P.S. They still have no phone service (at least in villas) since hurricanes and you need your cell phone.

well we almost crossed paths, I left on the 16th, I am still waiting a reply from my letter.
The coffee shop girl should definitely be working behind the scenes where she never interfaces with customers. A resort that advertises 'of this caliber' shouldn't confuse getting ready for season with customer attention: how easy it would have been to give you dessert when there were emply tables in Porto Cayo....it was that type of thing that kept happening over and over and drove me nuts.
