Hawaii questions

I've been to Hawaii once before [Maui and Oahu] and am now interested in returning some time during 2006. Since I was there in summer on our last visit [June], I'd like to go at a different time of year. What time of year is the weather best?

My other question for now is, which of the two Marriott locations on Kauai is better -- Lihue or Waipoli Beach? Suggestions and recommendations are appreciated!

Our weather in late spring and early fall is usually wonderful -- daytime temps averaging 80; overnight mid-70s, with steady tradewinds at 10-20 mph

Marriott Lihu`e is a full resort -- big pool, multiple restaurants & shops, extensive tropical grounds, etc. And it's b-i-g. You could book a room there for a week, and never leave (but that would be a shame!).

Marriott Waiohai is in Po`ipu -- newer, smaller...very nice, but more "hotel" than "resort".

Oh and I forgot about the new Courtyard by Marriott in Kapa`a -- renovated oceanfront hotel with restaurant/bar/pool. Recent visitors raved about the place.

Auntiemaria, thanks for the help. I was thinking of going in winter, but read that it is more rainy then. I was wondering, if we wanted to do a whale watch, when is the best time for that? I will plan for either spring or fall.

March, which is when spring starts on the mainland, has been a good whalewatching month for us while visiting Kaua`i, though it is considered Hawaii's winter and you may experience a bit more .

Link below indicates some kinds of whales may be found year round off the Big Island http://www.frommers.com/destinations...781023960.html
