Hawaii fares are down

$449 from the westcoast to HI... that sounds a little high actually. Check travelocity.com or expedia.com. You should be able to find RT aifare for about $400 all the time. If you check often enough, you'll catch it around $250-300 from Seattle, SF or LA.

I do check Travelocity regularly. They generally show a fare under $400, but it is never available when I want to go, it's not on Hawaiian Air, and it requires you to go through LAX or SFO, nearly doubling the travel time of a direct flight from PDX to HNL on Hawaiian. The flight I'm taking in January (on a Saturday) has been consistently listed for $625 or higher since last spring. This is the first time it has been this low - believe me, I've done the homework.

RE: dejahma:
I saw that fare on ATA on Monday night from SF to HNL for $198 R/T! I put 2 tix on hold through Expedia and went to purchase yesterday morning and the fare had changed to about $350! Man, I was UPSET! I'm waiting for the fare to go down to $350 round trip from the eastcoast like it did last year around this time.

eL I have been watching fares for about 5 years to Hawaii. That $350 fare last year was the lowest ever. It appeared in January though not November. So I would not be hopping for a fare drop before 1/1 if it drops that low again.
You could try a bid at $350 if you can't wait for Jan.

I am not sure about that eL I was watching fares last year also and I only saw a fare drop in January. Actually you can do a archive search here to confirm. I remember when everyone starting coming on to sing their success.
Thanksgiving for Hawaii is traditionally pretty tough. A lot of local people are flying home for the holidays. Although 911 could have sparked the sale you are talking about. I only know that for my family we did not see any fare drops on Continental, United, Delta or American from JFK, EWR, LGA, PHL.

Hi - Mid March 2002 we flew from Pocatello Idaho to Maui for $365.00! In 2000 we flew from Salt Lake City to Maui for 728.00 (end of May). I think 911 had alot to do with our fare last year and doubt we will ever see it that low again. But after January 1st start watching - fares well be good but only about 30 to 60 days out when advertised. Usually for FEB, 1st two weeks of March, and May. Good Luck!

I just booked a flight out of Oakland, CA to Honolulu for $250 inc taxes via Suntrips
(www.suntrips.com). Now I need to find a cheap hotel
