Hawaii-Big Island for Thanksgiving

Has anyone been to Hawaii during the week of or for Thanksgiving? We were thinking of going the week of Thanksgiving but are wondering if it will be overly crowded-any one gone during that time? Also is there a better time to go as far as less of a crowd?

We have been in Maui over Thanksgiving. I don't think it was overly crowded and most all the restaurants have wonderful Thanksgiving meals (you may need to make reservations a few days in advance however). The only drawback I found was getting reacclimated to the cold Michigan weather upon our return. We plan to go to Kauai over Thanksgiving this year. The rates at most hotels/condos are better than high season.

Planning to be in Hawaii 11/17-24 (BI) 11/24-12/2 (Maui). Thanksgiving reservations made at Old Lahaina Luau --cannot think of a better way to spend Thanksgiving!

Stayed in Hawaii during Thanksgiving a few years ago. I really enjoyed it as the resort was practicly empty. You should have a nice relaxing time = )

DB I would rethink a Thanksgiving visit that is the begining of the rainy season on Kauai.

I lived on Oahu during a few Thanksgivings. We had a veranda in Manalani heights (overlooks diamond head and the pacific). I remember on the few days before Thanksgiving the flights coming in and out of the airport looked like a bus station. More plans than any other holiday it was quite commical. I don't remember it being more crowded but do remember the non-stop planes.
