Several years ago I received a trip as a gift. It was from a very wealthy well meaning friend. I am a social worker and the stress is unbelievable. My friend sent me to Nassua Bahamas, which was NASTY. This island just plain sucks. I came home after 5 days. The locals just throw trash out of their car windows and were not friendly at all. The hotel was very run down and the restaurant had been closed by the local board of health. When I returned I thanked him for the trip and he asked me how it was? I lied and told him that I had the best time. I did have fun and did not find traveling alone difficult, it was more this location then anything. I also remember buying an frozen yogurt from TCBY and getting ripped off. I wanted to use a 20 traveler check and they wanted to charge me 10 to use it. I mentioned that there was no sign posted about this type of transaction fee, and the young man told me it was new policy. I told him to what he could do with his yogurt and his NEW policy. My freind had booked this thru his travel agent, who obviously received some sort of kickback for sending folks this hotels way. The name of the hotel was "The Casarina" it was near the monstrosity called "The Crystal Palace". This is one island that I would never return to. Even though, I hear Freeport is nice.....
