I live in las vegas so there's too many to mention. Of the most memorable was Tori Spelling several years ago with her then boyfriend Telly Savalis'son. It was amazing to see someone so rich be so insecure. My personal claim to fame was hanging out one night at a suite in Caesars Palace with a son of Warner Brothers and a famous african american actor. My friend dated someone form Bev. Hills and ran with that crowd. Oh, to be young and free again. But I'm a happily married old crow now! And yes, they are like everying else except the drugs and prostitute part.

Had dinner at the Atlanta Fish Market on a recent business trip (great meal - terrible service). Ted Turner was seated in the area directly behind us and up a few steps. He walked by the table with his young and extremely attractive date when leaving. I'd love to think that I might be fortunate enough to date a woman that hot when I look as old and crotchety as he does but I'm guessing that the bankroll speaks louder than the looks...

I went to Los Angeles (land of celebrities)just dying to see someone famous. We never saw anyone famous, but we did meet someone infamous--Joey Buttafucco-- he was checking ID's at a bar on Sunset Strip. Not a big thrill!

Bette Midler --> absolute darling, loves her fans to death. Spends about 1/2 hr posing with fans who want pics with her.
Liza Minelli --> stuck up snob. Period.
Paul Reiser --> full of himself, but talks a lot
Patti LaBelle --> humble, very sweet
Billy Joel --> As NYC as I am. COOLEST.
Dustin Hoffman --> great guy, great dad, very humble and almost shy.
Carrot Top --> talked my ear off, almost annoying to a point.
Phil Collins --> cool, quiet, shy.
Carol O'Connor --> weird, nice, annoyed by fans.
Tony Danza --> nice, cool, talks a lot.. (contrary to what I had heard).. maybe cuz I'm italian.
John Schneider --> sweet, sincere, wants nothing to do with the Dukes of Hazard.
*Many* of the NY Mets of 10+ years ago- nicest were Greg Jefferies, Gary Carter, Howard Johnson, Kevin McReynolds, Kevin Elster and Bobby Bonilla.
NYC, the place where you bump into celebs all the time.....

My husband had a nice celebrity encounter last night. We live near Cincinnati and one of hubby's coworkers gave him 4 free tickets for the nosebleed section for Friday night's Cincy Reds game. I had an upset stomach so I didn't go but hubby took our almost 8 yo baseball loving son and 5 yo daughter. They got there an hour before the game started and were inside the stadium corridors almost to their seats when hubby saw a man standing and thought he recognized him. The man said "Good Evening" and hubby said hi. The man said "I'd like you to have my tickets because I'm not going to use them." By then hubby knew who it was and said "You're JOHNNY BENCH.... why thank you!"

It was two tickets for the Blue (ground level) section 7 rows behind the Reds dugout! My daughter had to sit on her dad's lap but that was no big deal, it kept them warmer since it was a bit cold last night. The guys in the seats in front of them said "you must know Johnny" and hubby told them no, Johnny gave them the tix. Also former 70's Big Red Machine player Lee May was sitting on the next aisle over next to my son. It really made hubby and son's night!

Darn, mine aren't too exciting...

Danny Thomas - I was returning to Ohio from a business trip with a coworker from LA when we saw Danny Thomas walking up and down the aisles talking and shaking hands with people. We didn't talk to him but he seemed nice and obviously wanted to be recognized since he didn't stay in his first class seat! I think he was in town to promote a charity he has going on here. The TV cameras were waiting for him when we got off the plane.

Matthew Broderick - I walked right past him in NYC and didn't notice him but my friends pointed him out after we had walked past. He was standing halfway out of a car talking to someone, I can't remember the exact location.
------

Ricky Martin - those same two friends met Ricky after a concert in Cincy in 1999. They asked for his autograph and he was very friendly and as he was heading for his limo (or tour bus) asked if they could walk with him for a few minutes. Of course they said yes and he was very nice and asked them to come and see him in Cleveland the next night. They had to work so they said they couldn't but later were kicking themselves for not accepting. I also know some other people who have met him through radio station contests and they have all said the same thing, that he is very nice to his fans.

I think I'd be struck dumb if I ever met Ricky, Mel Gibson or Brad Pitt! So maybe I better just meet someone that I won't be afraid to talk to...

wow, long running thread. In 1973 (I think) I sat next to Charlie Pride on a plane, nice guy, I hardly knew who he was. When I said I was going to South Africa to join a ship he laughed & said that was one place he wouldn't be going to !
Few years ago saw the BeeGees at LHR; we've all aged !

I work as a VIP guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu in Hawaii. Last week I met the Prime Minister of Fiji and the next day I met Demi Moore.

My most favorite experience happened last year as I was taking the top fashion photographer from Europe through the center. During the canoe pageant we were sitting in the VIP section. He was amazed and delighted to meet Miss Universe, who was visiting the same day. Miss Universe was amazed and delighted to meet the photographer. Two celebrities from far-flung places under unique circumstances in Hawaii.

A while back, 5+ years ago, I recognized Dennis Franz. I went up to him and asked him if that was really him! He was so kind and polite and took time to talk to me, gave me a hug, too. He's a very nice man. TV doesn't do him justice. He is very tall and handsome, honest!

Tyra Banks on a 8 seater plane to St. Bart's. She is beautiful even without makeup. Her eyes are incredible!

Served Beverly Sills (opera star) dinner at Wolftrap Farm Park in the 80's.

Met Pat Nixon when I was 10 at a park dedication ceremony in DC.

Sold the head of the CIA jewelry (in the early 90s). I had no clue who he was!

Saw Marg Helgenberger with her son at a local DC restaurant called Sequoia. Also saw the Dad from the Fresh Prinz and Warren Christopher there also!

Saw Sam Donaldson walking down the street. Very big eyebrows!

Saw Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days) checking into a hotel in Boston. She was VERY glamorous - not very Mrs. Cunninghamist!).

Have seen lots more when visiting NYC - Little Stevie (pre-Sopranos), Christian Slater, Molly Ringwald and others.

I NEVER approach them. They deserve their privacy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I try not to stare although sometimes that is hard.

Ran into, almost literally, Clint Eastwood on the slopes in Sun Valley, Idaho in the mid-80's, and of all things, saw him again two years later again on the slopes in Park City, Utah (was a better skier by this time and wasn't in jeopardy of running into him). My only slight brush with the famous.

Actually sat on Bert Lahr's (the Cowardly Lion in "The Wizard of Oz) lap at a Met's game in Shea Stadium while he was filming a Lay's Potato Chip commercial ("No one can eat but one") -- I was about 5 years old.

Met Alan Funt from "Candid Camera" -- I was actually on one of the clips when I was 7. "Candid Camera" was filming at my elementary school.

Met Christopher Plumber, Harrison Ford and Lesley Anne Down in the UK while they were filming "Hanover Street" and I have a photograph of me standing between the two men. I was melting over Christopher Plumber since I loved the movie "The Sound of Music". Now, all I can say is I stood next to Harrison Ford.

Sat next to Alex Haley (author of "Roots") on a plane from LA to Boston. Everyone was swooning over him.

Stood next to Michael Gross of "Family Ties" at Expo in Vancouver.

Talked to John Raitt at a dinner theatre when he was doing a revival of "Carousel".

Met the late Johnny Most (radio voice of the Boston Celtics) multiple times -- I went to high school with his kids. And, I've also met Tommy Heinsohn, Dave Cowens and John Havlicek.

Graduated from high school with Alberto Salazar who won the Boston Marathon once and the New York Marathon twice. But he choked at the LA Olympics.

My parents met Charles Kuralt up near their summer home when he was having a picture taken for the cover of his last travel book a couple of years before he passed away.

And the best story is that when Ronald Reagan was President, the weekend that he was having surgery and under general anaesthesia George Bush was Acting President. Bush was up at his summer home in Kennebunkport, ME and my brother was sailing his Hobie Cat. Storm suddenly came in and my brother had to get to the shore. Turns out he ended up pulling ashore on George Bush's property. Well, my brother was in a wet suit, and the Secret Service was all over him. Anyway, my brother made the front page of the local Maine news paper, shaking hands with George Bush (well, that's after the ruckus was over with). Years later, my parents ran into the Bush's coming out of a Maine restaurant, and my Dad mentioned the incident and George Bush remembered the event vividly and just laughed.

Had to add my brush with fame. 2 years ago my husband and I were on the beach at Hilton Head, SC. I noticed a couple walking our way and thought, "Gosh, that girl is really pretty. What does she see in that guy?!" ( She was blond, tall, model-like/ He was rough, short, and not much to look at) After they got by, my husband asked in a surprised voice, "Do you know who he was?!" "No", I said. "That was John Mellencamp(sp)!" I wanted to take off running just to get a better look at him but didn't.haha

After wednesday night I'll put my two cents in. Was at the opening of The Graduate on Broadway. Walter Cronkite was very accessible and nice. Mike Wallace (very tanned) was funny. Judd Hirsh, Art Garfunkle, Tony Randall (looking a bit frail), John McEnroe and lots of others who I recognized from the tv/movie but didn't remeber names (American Pie, Sex in the City, etc.)

I live in the Village and they often film on my block. Peter O Toole and Jodie foster once hanging out in front of my building. Peter politely smiled and nodded to me as I walked by. Woody Allen lots of times with his big hats. They filmed when Harry met Sally and the Meg's movie van had a sign reading "Sally" and the other had one reading "Harry". Susan Sarandon lots of times. Once walking her kid to school through Union Square. My favorite time was when I was talking to friends in front of my building and she walked by. I did a double take and smiled. She walked about a third of the way up the block and turned and gave me a smile. Richard Gere at the Photo store. Paul Newman a couple of times - true class.

I met the Nixon family during a campaign dinner in 1968. Dick looked over my head as he shook hands, in a sort of daze. Pat looked like a woman who wanted to be home reading by the fire, not meeting a bunch of strangers -- I felt very sorry for her. Julie and David Eisenhower were warm and personable. However, I voted Democratic.

Just saw David Hasselhoff last week sitting poolside at the Ali'i Tower of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. He was under an umbrella, reading a script!
