Hapuna Beach Big Island

Thinking of going back to Hapuna Beach Hotel B.I. next February but just read about the extensive updates they are doing including new pools, etc. Does anyone know how they are doing on time line? Suppose to be done by Jan 2018 but I am a bit concerned about booking something when remodel is going on and I don't know of too many remodels that are finished on time. SONG DOC?????

I will be staying there for a conference starting this Wednesday 9/6/17. (Good timing, Shar!) I'll ask, but it might be too early to know whether they'll be finished in Feb.

I'm at the hotel right now. At times, the noise in the lobby/reception area is DEAFENING. The reception staff is wearing ear plugs. Even the mongooses are wearing ear plugs. hehehe. Luckily, I can't hear it in my room or in the conference rooms where I'm teaching. When they're working sitting out by the pool or beach right in front of the hotel -- or on my lanai -- would be like sitting beside a jackhammer. (I just checked and there are only a few people at the pool.)

According to the person I spoke with, they hope to have the main renovations finished in February because they have a huge group that will be renting out the entire hotel for part of February. She said that by then they hope to only be working on individual room renovations which would not affect people in other rooms. They hope to have it 100% complete by the end of February.

thanks Songdoc. I am not sure I want to chance it. Hawaii is my peaceful place and construction noise is not peace for me. I do love the Hapuna Beach Hotel. Glad they are renovating. What room were you in that you didn't hear the noise. I might want that one if we go!

The areas they are working on will change. I'm in tower 5 -- Rm. 7510. But what is quiet today might be noisy tomorrow (or February).

My guess is that if you were coming at the end of February the only renovations would be in guest rooms. I think the earlier you go, the riskier it would be.

Maybe I'm not very discerning, but my room is beautiful. I can't imagine what they would change. I really like this hotel and the beach here is so beautiful.

FYI, the work (and noise) went on 7 days a week.
I think you're making a wise decision.
