Hanalei Bay house rentals???

Has anyone rented a house for a week in Hanalei Bay area? We are 2 couples (so would prefer 2 bathrooms). Also, would love something on beach.
Thanks
Sue

Sue, we loved our rental in Princeville (10 min drive from Hanalei). It has two bedrooms. One master bedroom with it's own bathroom, the other with two twins (the second bathroom is downstairs). It was impeccably furnished, new and clean with a fabulous view to the mountains in back and just across from the scenic ocean outlook in the front. We liked it so well, we plan on staying there on all our subsequent visits. The Hanalei Bay Villas are freestanding condos. In my opinion, this was the nicest one. Their website is: www.kauaivilla.com.

Sue, I was mistaken, I forgot that the house actually has 3 bathrooms. One upstairs and two down.

Rented there for the past two years. Don't want to refer you to the house I used as they now go with a rental agency that is building a condo complex in Haena and near Makana Point (Bali Hi).

Really liked Hanalei North Shore Properties. My experience is the pictures don't really lie. Just make sure that windows are luvered (sp) and not solid glass, bedrooms have curtains or blindes, you are not facing a parking lot or near a public access path to beach and all should be fine. Slamming doors and late night partiers can be a problem on the beaches occasionally. I like to be a block off the beach for this reason. Not a wild party scene but all you need is one or two loud drunks when you are trying to sleep. I like solid couches also if and only if you have a choice. Feel like that common bamboo furniture has these cushions that push right out from under you.

I like Hanalei it is great to stroll out to the beach instead of hiking down a path which is what you have to do in Princeville.

Have fun let us know about what you find.

Thanks Maggi and Sarah. I'd really like to get a beach house, but I was surprised at the cost.
Has anyone stayed at the Hanalei Moon Cottage? It sounds terrific, but costs around $1400 for a week.

Yeah but Sue but can you get beachfront for less in California?

That is a bargain for any areas near NYC.

Keep looking if that is too much for your. There are deals out there.

Did you check the economy class offering at Hanalei North Shore Properties?

You know I just went to the Hanalie Moon Cottage Website. I am always uneasy about sighst that focus more on the grounds than the actual interior of the rental. I could be wrong but it seems like they are trying to hide something. I have also seen better kitchens for the money.

I think I've heard you mention before that you won't share your house rental info because you don't want it to be booked when you'd like to rent...I thought we were all here to help each other! Can't you let SanDiegoSue know the name, and let *her* decide if it's a moral conflict for her to rent a house which coincidentally uses the same agency that is hawking a condo complex? It seems like such a tease to keep mentioning this great place, but refusing to share it!

My husband and I decided to rent a two bedroom upstairs unit right on the beach in Hanalei Bay. It's about $1200 for the week...more than we had wanted to spend, but we're happy to be on the beach and within a short walking distance to town. We're looking forward to our September 2003 trip.

Sue, that sounds like a steal to me...and in a great location. We went to that beach two days in a row - once for catamaran trip (wonderful captain) and another for a day of surfing and swimming. Judging from the website photos, you are right in the middle too, not too close to the pier/public parking. Good choice! Here's the URL for the Captain Sundown, I think it's the only tour of Napali that actually leaves from the North shore...via outrigger, you will be close enough to walk over to his launch spot!

Hope this works out for your dates - don't think he tours in the winter - too rough.

I recommended these cottages on Tunnels Beach in another thread. I have not stayed but am planning to stay in April. The two bedroom cottage on the beach is $195. They are not luxurious but they look comfortable. For the price the location is great.

Good Luck.
