Haiku stairs on Oahu?
We are going to Oahu in September and have read that the Haiku stairs are not to be missed. Supposedly they were closed to the public a year or so ago but may be reopening. Does anyone know if/when they might reopen again? My husband is really hoping to do this hike.

Dusty - thanks so much for the link. What a shame that this is off-limits. Hoping something changes this year is probably along shot but we'll cross our fingers anyway!

they've been locked up for a while, but somehow my daughter and 4 friends climbed them in December!

I just re-read my post above. Just to clarify, the Stairs have been locked up for a while. It sort of sounded like the kids have been locked up!

But they would have been "locked up" if the authorities had caught them!
