gwu hotels?

Evening - My daughter just got accepted to George Washington U, and as such I'll be traveling to DC a bit more frequently than in the past. We're planning a trip for her spring break, she's a HS senior now, and would like to check out the GW Mount Vernon campus to see if she'd like to dorm there. That campus is in the Glover Park/Foxhall area. Does anyone have a hotel that they could recommend? if there are any, I can't seem to find any - then we'll go back to the main campus - any hotel rec's for that area? Thanks.

Congratulations to your daughter! I don't recall hotels in the GW-Mount Vernon campus area, probably the closest would be in Georgetown. However, it would be pretty easy to get a cab from a hotel near the Foggy Bottom campus. I also see there's a shuttle between the two campuses.

The GWU web page has some hotel suggestions in the Foggy Bottom area:

Depending on your budget, you may also want to consider staying in the Rosslyn or Pentagon City/Crystal City areas and take the Metro into DC.

There are no hotels in the dorm area. The closest is the Marriott Georgetown Uninersity Conference Center Hotel. Otherwise, I suggest also looking at the numerous hotels in Georgetown proper. All Georgetown hotels are a VERY quick taxi to the GW Mount Vernon campus.

Don't bother lookingt for a hotel near Metro - Metro doesn't go anywhere near the GW Mount Vernon campus. Just plan on quick, cheap taxis.

Take Bardo's advice. Thanks to the georgetown Citizens Association the METRO doesn't go anywhere IN Georgetown at all!

Even if you stayed on the Georgetown U campus you still couldn't walk up to the GW Mount Vernon campus so you may as well stay in Georgetown or in a broader area of DC itself.

I'm sure others here know the city better than I do but we stayed at the Hotel Monticello of Georgetown and it seemed to be very near where our friends' son was at GWU. I'm not sure which campus he was on though.

The hotel is small and quite nice.

Thanks - sorry it took so long for me to reply. I do appreciate all your responses. And will definitely ponder the Georgetown Citizen's "stuff". We'll be staying in Foggy and commuting to Mt. Vernon campus.
