Dear x,
You're so kind. You're part of the mankind's most vicious problem- man's inhumanity to man.

no, if it's going to happen, let it happen to someone who's "compassionate" enough to deal with it.

I think we should put all of the Liberals in a van and drive it off a cliff.

Eehhh? Nice observation, Nostradamus.

"As usual, the right-wingers have all cornered the market on overwrought rhetoric overheated name-calling, and over-stuffed self-righteous nattering, with specious logic, dubious "facts," and a lot of ad hominem and ad feminem attack mentality. (And they probably figure those Latin phrases have to do with gender politics and sexuality, too.)"

I agree! And when it was obvious that Al Gore was ahead in the national popular vote and also gaining in the Florida popular vote, the only thing they could do was stop the count. (And I quote.)

If this "selection" is something that ANY American cannot legitimately protest, then some people here have forgotten what this country was founded upon. So, call me a pious pontificator. I'm in good company.

Kalena, you ignorant slut. America was definitely NOT founded as a one person, one vote democracy that you hint was whitewashed this past November. Madison, Washington, Hamilton and company got together and formed a REPUBLIC. Knowing that many people would use their vote to democratically steal the treasure of others, knowing that some people are educated and some people are dumb as shit (watch C-SPAN for the morning call-ins; 75% of the calls are from people too stupid or irrational to vote wisely or honorably), the FOUNDERS decided against a democracy and for a republic.

And don't forget - one of the reasons the the electoral college was established was that slaves were considered 3/5 of a person and only white land-owning males were allowed to vote. It was supposed to provide the means through which sparsely populated would be as well represented as largely populated areas. The electoral college was in itself a compromise between the popular vote and having the House and Senate choose the President. Please note that the first several Presidents were Southern large land-owning "Gentry" as a result of this process.

Dear Dan Akroyd,

How profound and true your words are.
You are exactly the type of person, we wise founding fathers knew were "dumber than S*****" and should not have an equal "one man, one vote" - After all the population of this wonderful country must be protected from non-humans such as you.

I am so glad you recognize yourself so as to relieve the rest of the population from having to determine for you that your vote and thoughts are not worth the internet bytes they take up and certainly not worthy of counting in any election.

Sincerely,
John H.

Dan, I was just about to say that. I agree 100% (Except for the whole "slut" thing). One of my biggest peeves is people that know absolutely nothing about this country and it's foundations. We are a republic, if you don't know what that means then look it up, learn about it. Educate yourselves. That's what's wrong with this country, there are to many people willing to swallow the media and party crap becuase they're too damn lazy to look it up, to learn and decide for themselves - they actually believe what they are told. No matter where you stand on the issues, please educate yourself.

In terms of this election, there was no absolute winner - as there hasn't been in other elections as well. It was a close one. But the truth is that Bush won by all AMERICAN laws and standards. That's it. There is no legitimacy to the "popular Vote" in America, so don't give me that BS. Please read the constitution, the bill of rights, the amendments, and other legal documents. You'll see the truth. Count every vote, revote, hah! Since when has that been done. The votes were counted and they were counted fairly and objectively. Bush won enough electoral votes to be president. Deal with it and if you're not hapy then get involved instead of spending all of your time bitching. He was not "appointed" or "selected", he was "elected" based upon the rules of our REPUBLIC. And for those of you complaining about the supreme court, they stepped in to stop a huge breech of our constitutional rights and to bring a fair end to this process. The day the liberals illegitimize the Supreme Court and our fair and accurate electoral process is a sad day indeed.

Kristy, Bravo! Wish I could say it as well, but I'm glad you came along to do it for me. The stagering ignorance about our constitution and voting process and willingness amongst those ignorants (to create a new word) to want to change the constitution to suit their ignorant needs is disappointing, isn't it?

Ahhh, but the wonders of the way they framed our Constitution is that we have the ability to change and correct mistakes that they made.

It's a crock that the votes were counted fairly and objectively. But realistically, that crap goes on in BOTH directions in every election. The problems really come up when it is as close as it was in Florida. YES, we now have a new President-Select. But it has happened before. Unless we change the process it'll happen again, and half the population will be displeased again. I applaud the steps quite a few Governors took 2 months ago. They established a commission to evaluate the election process and come up with recommendations to ensure that this won't happen again.

For the record, I am probably more educated than the rest of you, but I don't know that I would have thought to have torn off the chad hanging on the back of my ballot. (Our state uses a different type of ballot anyway.) And my children have games that involve sticking punched cards into an electronic educational game. If they're bent in the slightest, it may take several trys to position the card correctly so the game will work. (My in-laws bought the game.)

So while I am on my soapbox, I will say that the thing that really irritates me the most about this whole debacle is that each side would be screaming just as loudly if the positions were reversed. Or maybe that's the most amusing part of all this . . .

So now the liberals are using Nostradamus to support their positions. That is consistent with their gullibility to pop science and their positions on subjects like globalization and climate change catastrophes.

By the way, according to the Economist, that bastion of right-wing extremism, George W. Bush scored in the top ten percent on the SAT exam. But, of course, we know that SAT tests are biased toward the privileged, because pop science tells us so.

One more thing. Do you know how Gore got hooked on global warming? He took a science "survey" course to fullfill his course requirements. For those of you with the intelligence of Nando, let me explain. A science survey course is a course that people too dumb to pass physics or chemistry take to satisfy their science credits.

A protest? Why?

Wow, I guess if you are a 51 year old President of the U.S. and you use cigars on a 21 year old intern, perjure yourself in a sexual harrassment suit, take money from China for your campaign, and call everyone who disagrees with you a racist, homophobe, bigot, a person who wants to starve children and old people, a person who believes differently than you is labeled a extremist and a nazi, is SOMEHOW A GREAT PRESIDENT.

Dems and Libs, what would you do without all the Republicans in the 32 states for Bush vs the 18 that Gore won, the 2,400 counties that went for Bush, vs the 600 for Gore. Bush won 5 times the sq miles that Gore did.

Gore won his votes (a lot of them illegal, as reported) in the Hollywood and big city liberal areas. Do we in fly over country want CA and New York to run this country.

Who do you think pays the taxes, and earns the money that you love to steal (50% of ones pay) for your programs that you USE TO GET VOTES FROM THOSE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SOCIALISM.

I second the idea to skip Salt Lake City as it is full these really strange cult members that wear black pants, white shirts, and skinny ties and go around knocking on doors all day. I think they are called Mormons or something like that, and they are really odd. They will steal your baby if they get a chance and also will want to marry your wife. Stay away from SLC, it is full of Mormons.

Wow...plenty huhu so early in the morning. Kristy: Thanks for keeping it polite. I was not interested in pursuing the whole republic/one person one vote issue. That's already been discussed here ad nauseum. My comments go to the right to peacefully assemble.
As to the whole Nostradamus impersonator thing, I thought it was pretty funny and the observations right on given the tenor of this thread. But I guess that's where some of us differ.
Well, enough of this. Nando, I hope that you'll post a trip report. Best wishes. It's bound to be freezing!

I would be very wary of getting my news and information from tv. A 30 second sound bite on a portion of a persons comments does not represent what was really said. The media has portrayed Bush as stupid, well if he was so dumb he would not be where he is today. As for the print media, they are equally as biased. The media constantly slants stories and headlines to attract readers and viewers. Yellow journalism at its best!

As for Bush getting where he is by riding on his coat daddy's coat tails, I am sure they openned doors for him, but Bush is a self-made man! Gore also rode on his daddy's coat tails. And, what about all of you who inherited money and work in family own businesses???

And, to the jerk who posted the comments about SLC, have you ever been there? Do you know any Mormons personnally or are you just pre-judging on an ill-conceived notion? This country is made up of diverse and different people who have contributed to its success. It really galls me when people make comments about one group or another they know nothing about!

I hope Nando and his roving band of childkillers get lost in the backwoods of WVA. Ask Ned Beatty about the hillbillies.

"Bush is a self-made man"?
"Bush is a self-made man"?
"Bush is a self-made man"?

What in the world are you talking about? What on earth has Bush ever accomplished entirely independent from family connections and family money? Come on. I'm waiting.

Oh, yes. He got that drunk driving conviction and abused drugs for years entirely through his own efforts.

I stand corrected.
