Nando -

Seems like you've stirred up a hornet's nest. Stay clear of Salt Lake City, where there's massive road construction in advance of the Olympics and a typically snowy, unpredictable winter. Lots of people like you in SLC, though, who'd be happy to have you drop in.

After going over the Rockies and fueling in Boulder, stop in Lawrence. A bastion of free-thought in middle America.

Nebraskan: We have jobs, mortgages, children too. God Bless America.

In addition to spotty online mapping websites, you could plan your trip with a CD program such as MS Street/Trips with web updates. But, as for protesting the inaugurations, Like, get over it already. Winter is not a good time for a cross country trip and sleeping in a motor vehicle all along the way. Once you arrive, you'll freeze your bloody bums off. Why not find a useful endeavor for your efforts?

To Debbie:

The quote "you lost, we won" is simply not correct. The margin of error was ten times the tiny margin of victory or defeat for either candidate. Al Gore's margin of "victory" in the poplular vote was less than the margin of error. George W.'s 2 electoral vote "victory" and non-existent Florida vote "victory" was most certainly less than the margin of error. No one won.

This election had NO WINNERS. This country has a Supreme Court Appointed "ruler" for the next four years. And as you stated there is probably nothing that will change that in the short term.

This country, however, has never been a country to stand back and do nothing. (Thank Heavens!!) We are a country founded by valuing peaceful protest - from the well-to-do businessmen dumping tea in Boston, to the suffragetts fighting for women's voting rights, to the Freedom Fighters of the 60's. I am grateful for these brave people. If not for them this country could be like the Russia you recommended above for "liberals" to move to.

Go Nando - Do your peaceful protest and maybe in four years we will have two qualified candidates (or more) to vote for and a Fair and Accurate voting system. This last election proved that our voting system is broken - And it is our job as "always seeking improvement" Americans to fix the system and not just sit back telling everyone "there is nothing you can do about it!"

The current voting system can and will be fixed - But not be people who sit back and accept court appointed "rulers" and continually bicker about "liberals" or "conservatives;" when the real problem is outdated, inaccurate and useless voting systems.

Go Nando!

Sign me:
Not a liberal or a conservative -
Sign me "an American!"

Poor Nando doesn't have a clue, this is the worst winter we have had in a long time in the US and he is going to drive cross-country in it!

Poor Nando doesn't have a clue..and apparently no money either as he wants to stay in campgrounds in the middle of winter! Note-Nando most campgrounds are probably closed now.

Poor Nando doesn't have a clue-He is driving to Washington to stage a useless protest. His real agenda is to get on tv.

Poor Nando doesn't have a clue...It's obvious he has lots of time on his hands to drive cross country to Washington. Therefore he doesn't have a job, and we the hard working taxpayers are probably supporting him in the form of welfare.

Poor Nando...he is a CLUELESS moron that needs to get a job, save some money and get a life!!!!

If you are unhappy with the outcome of the election, there are more useful ways to direct your energy than driving cross-country in the winter to protest a "done deal." Focus your efforts on things that will really make a difference. Run for office, volunteer for local citizen boards. Or put your money where your mouth is and support causes/candidates that you believe in.

You obviously are a Democrat. You have the time to waste driving cross country while the rest of work hard to keep our economy moving. You probably will expect some sort of Govt handout (welfare) to help you survive when what you should do is get a fucking job!

Here is my advice. All 8 of you get into the van. Start it up in the garage with the Door closed. Roll down your windows and drift into peaceful dreamtime.............FOREVER!!!!

Love mom's answer above-it is a great way to see the the country and your world will not come to an end regardless of who is "driving the bus".

Take Kenilworth Ave to RFK Stadium and park. Walk from there, preferably at night, down Benning Road and H Street. Gore won this area with 99% of the vote so the indigenous population should be sympathetic to you. You might want to go door-to-door and ask for provisions, soup or spare food. Of course, more than likely, the Gore supporters of Benning and H will rob you, beat you over the head, and gang rape your women.

All right. George W. Bush is not bright and is probably the dumbest president since Warren Harding. However, Al Gore is less intelligent than any of the three major third party candidates, Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan or Harry Browne. When times are good economically, Americans don't want to think very hard; thus Bush-v-Gore 2000. One thing I got to say about Gore and the Democrats is that they are stridently and happily pro-baby killing. Have they no shame? Apparently not. In the end, Bush ain't very conservative and he's not going to get much done except he may set the table for a Hillary Clinton presidency in '04 or '08. So, liberals, there is a silver lining to the current dark cloud hanging over your lives. And one last thing. A couple of ladies have suggested making a difference locally rather than wasting your time protesting circumstances you can't change. Wise women; wise advice. Follow it. You can make a bigger difference locally than nationally at this time in our national life. Good day.

No, Hillar is the devil. But she's got balls. She gambled that New Yorkers would have so little state-respect that they'd vote a non-New Yorker into a New York senate seat.

ooooo, so Hilary is the Anti-Christ. But I thought the so-called Christian Coalition had decided that Barney was the Anti-Christ.

Excuse me. I stand corrected. Hilary is the Devil and Barney (the dinosaur) is the Anti-Christ. How stupid of me!

No, Barney Frank is a satyr. Barney Fife is the anti-Christ, however. Barney Rubble is OK, though.

I understand now. We need to go back to the Stone Age to be morally correct.

Connie, you should be VERY happy in one of the 3rd world muslim countries. They don't approve of any method of birth control, much less providing safe terminations of pregnancy even if the pregnancy will kill the mother. Shoot, many of the countries are so moralistic they still practice female circumcism. That's guaranteed to make the sexual act unpleasant for the woman - hmmm, great way to cut down on unwanted pregnancies! (just in case you don't know what this is, they cut off ALL of the female genitalia, leaving only a small opening - often as young as 5 or 6 years of age)
