Groceries in Poipu area

It's countdown time for us and I'm wondering where the best place to get groceries would be - would it be best to shop in Lihue before we get to the condo in Poipu or is there groceries available in the Poipu area. Thanks

Personally, I just shopped in Koloa, but if you're going for a long period, or have a large group, there is a Costco on the way to Poipu (probably Walmart, too, but I wasn't looking for one).

The Big Save in Koloa is a nice grocery store. And there is a good fish market in Koloa very near the Big Save.

Another consideration is the Star Market in the Kukui Grove shopping center on your way out of Lihue on the main road toward Poipu (much larger than the Big Save). The shopping center is on your left and also has a Longs Drug which has better prices on numerous items, including "beverages", than you will find at Big Save in Koloa.

Once you get to Poipu, Big Save is 'da best. Also Koloa Fish Market has plate lunches and their seared Ahi can't be beat for the quality or the price. Great to take some home for a pre-dinner appetizer.

We normally shop at the Star Market when we stay in Lihue. It is a good size grocery store. There is also a Costco in the area if interested.

You should stop at WalMart and/or Costco in Lihue to pick up your major purchases before heading into Poipu. Once in Poipu, you can always go to the Big Save in Koloa to shop for your smaller purchases, produce, etc.

And for fresh produce, hit the open-air Sunshine (farmers) Market at Koloa Ballpark -- 12 noon, Mondays.

Get there early -- supply seems to always exceed demand! 8-)
