Great things to do in Chicago/suburbs in the fall?

What are people's favorite sites to see or things to do in the fall in Chicago or surrounding area?

Chicago is best for restaurants, music, and theater. Depends on what you want. The best deal in town on hotels is the Best Western Hawthorne Suites. It's in Lakeview, just north of Lincoln Park, very close to the lake, separate sitting room for about $100/night. Close enough to downtown for sightseeing, but so many good restaurants/nightlife activities in Lakeview/Lincoln Park.

Outdoor activities:

Lincoln Park Zoo
Walk the lakefront
Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Oak Park (driving tour)
Navy Pier (new shakespeare theater)
Architecture boat tour on Chicago river

Thank you but I was just trying to see if anyone had "fall" specific great things to do in Chicago or surrounding areas.

Navy Pier. Fun Halloween stuff for kids, free hayrides up and down Dock Street, shopping, people-watching.

i also second the recommendation for Cantigny. Excellent museum for WWII buffs
