Because there are no signs with threats to tow and there were cars parked there day and night the whole time I was there. I didn't want to risk
it so I would move my car to the street at night closer to the hotel- it is free on the street after 6 or 7 pm. I can't remember now which....

PS. I could see the parking lot from
my room at the Iberville, and it was not that it wasn't safe- just do not go into the graveyard there, especially after dark. And there is a
police station right there on that corner too. I never felt unsafe walking around. I never went out though after dark.

I love it. Park your car in a grocery store parking lot to save the parking fee. Wow.

Oh my god! "There were no signs to tell me it was private property." Honey, it's a Winn Dixie! Not a parking garage. This is so embarrassing!!!!!

Karen, you may have saved money but it was still very tacky. Sorry if you don't see that.

I thought I had heard it all until I heard about the woman who bragged about staying at the Ritz Carlton and then parked her car at the Winn Dixie to save parking fees. Very funny. Can't wait to share with friends.

All I can add to this is that Karen's very lucky her car wasn't broken into! That is not an area where I'd park. Even when I go to that store (not often, admittedly), I park as close as possible to the front door!

Karen knows how to save $200. Winn-Dixie never fills up their lot. There were no signs posted. Leave Karen alone. She's a smart cookie.

I read this thread and booked my 4 nights in NOLA at the Iberville. I just returned. 25 dollars a day to park + tips (desk clerk suggested 15 percent of 25$ each time leaving hotel) It takes two elavators to exit the hotel. rooms were big enough for the bed alone. Small tub with no vent fan(windows won't open either) Beautiful furnishings and decor. Two lights(of 6), one phone(of two)and room safe inoperable. I did develope noisy brakes on new car and asked consierge? to assist me in finding a local mechanic open sundays to have a look. She said OK, she would call me right back or leave message on phone but did neither. The location was excellent. Full Breakfast buffet was convenient(one elavator) but not very good. Seen two famous people as guests there. There is an additional charge to use the pool/whirlpool/spa/gym. 10bucks per day. Very inconvenient because you had to use two elavators and exit building by doorman/valet and re-enter into ritz.
Just the facts.. and my observations.
Attitude is what makes a good trip and when we run into little things that bother us or we don't care for we make the best of it and rarely ever complain because we are there for a good time and a great time is what we found.

Thanks for the update. Sounds as if this property is slipping a little based on your observations.
