I recommend checking with the Dallas Monring News' Guide at www.guidelive.com for the latest restaurant reviews. The area you'll be looking in is called Uptown. There are lots of great restaurants in that area! Also, ask the concierge in the hotel about any special recommendations.
If you can, visit the State Fair of Texas while you're in town.

this visit to Dallas I ate at Cafe Express, good, casual, inexpensive and Reata in Ft. Worth. Nice ambiance, good but too elaborate for me. I wanted some good BBQ. Stopped at La Madeleine again for a quick bite one night. Texas-OU game in town so I didn't venture downtown.

Jean may already be here, but I'll post a suggestion anyhow. If you're staying at the Melrose, I'd strongly recommend "Steel", which is close to the hotel. It's Asian cuisine --- food is excellent.

For my detail on the place, look at the review in GuideLive (published each Friday as part of the Dallas Morning News). Additionally the GuideLive site has a list of top 25 restaurants in area --- http://www.guidelive.com/feature/25/
