How long is the drive from grand canyon south rim village area to Bryce canyon national park lodge?

Any recommended stops for lunch, pictures, etc?

5 to 5.5 hours is about right ... Page is a great place to stop if you take 89, Kanab another good place if taking either 89 or 89-A. Marble Canyon is another option for lunch if taking 89-A. 89-A usually takes a bit longer, especially if you get behind camper busses on the ride up to the Kaibab plateau where there are few places to pass slow vehicles.

No shortage of places to stop for photos, pretty scenic drive.

It would be a shame to be going right by Page and not stop for The Best Dam View, Horseshoe Bend (if you're into a 3/4 mile walk each way) and Antelope Canyon.

Thanks J62 I use google maps often and love it; however it is always better to get real world advice from those who've done it.

Myer, are those places signed pretty well? Don't think we can do antelope canyon this trip since we have an 8 mo old with us.

The Best Dam View is just before the bridge heading north. In Google Maps put in Page, AZ and zoom in.


Where Rt89 (this is what you take going north/south) meets N Lake Powell Blvd look to the left of the junction (west). It says Scenic View Rd. The best Dam View is on that little road closer to the north end.

There's a parking lot and you walk down about 15-20 rock stairs to a built viewpoint looking directly at the dam.

You may not want to do Horseshoe Bend with an 8 month old as it's not shaded and you'll have to carry both ways. Not smooth/level enough for a stroller.

However, Antelope Canyon is no problem. Where Rt89 meets Rt98 (why are those numbers so similar?) go east towards (but not to) the power station. After a mile or two you'll see a parking lot on the right side for Antelope Canyon (signed). They charge a few dollars to park. Then you buy a "guide" ticket (three years ago it was $20.) and they drive you in an open but covered truck. A bit bouncy but not bad. About 10 minutes.

The actual Canyon is really like a walk in the park. Narrow vertical walls but totally flat. You may even be able to push a stroller in there. I'm not sure because you're walking on sand but it not thick. You should have no trouble here. Try to go when the sun is high in the sky for maximum effect.

Select the 2007 trip to Bryce, Zion, GC, Sedona. There are a good number of photos of these sights.

I don't think a stroller would work at Antelope Canyon, but as Myer said, it would be easy to do with a baby, especially if you have a backpack or front carrier.
