Air Tran from White Plains, NY, tips anyone?
I'm looking into air on Air Tran from the White Plains/NY airport, to Florida. I have not flown on Air Tran nor been to the White Plains airport, does anyone have any heads up tips for flying this carrier and for this airport? If you all think it's a big pain, I'll consider changing flights/airports.
Thanks, looking forward to your feedback.

Airport is very convenient if you live in Westchester or Fairfield counties. Very easy access off I-684. Small airport. AirTran flights to FL, either non-stop or through Atlanta are just fine. Beats driving to LGA or JFK.
Dropping off and picking up passengers is a breeze - just steps from baggage claim or checkin. The biggest challenge with White Plains is parking. The parking garage is small and expensive, and I don't recall there being any cheaper/more capacity long term parking. Other than that it's a good airport.
For picking up passengers, they have a cell phone lot 2min from the terminal with an arrivals sign board where you can wait.

AirTran is a great airline. I like it a lot.
White Plains is a tiny airport. Easy to get in and out, but one important question - will someone be coming to pick you up? If so, GREAT! If not, how do plan to get where you are going?

We've flown Air Tran quite a few times. The flights are OK, but they've told me that they don't have arrangements with other airlines, so when they've cancelled our flights, it hasn't been pretty.
One time, I knew when I checked in for my first (running late) flight that I would miss my connection in ATL. There was a Delta flight that would have enabled me to make that connection, but no dice. Instead of getting to West Palm at 10PM, I got to Fort Lauderdale at 1AM. They did pay for a shuttle to where I was staying in Palm Beach County.
A couple of months ago, they cancelled our noon Saturday non-stop flight at 9PM on Friday. The options they gave us were a 7:30 PM non-stop flight or a 5:40 AM flight with a (what I though was too short) layover in ATL. We were meeting a group in Denver, so the evening flight wasn't an option. They wouldn't put us on another airline's non-stop flight. When I asked about being upgraded to business class (something that's relatively cheap on AT), the clerk's response was, "I do have the authority to do that, but I won't."

Thanks everyone, seems like there are pros and cons with AT, and the parking situation at White Plains/NY airport could be a game changer.
I will be driving to the White Plains airport and plan to park there until my return, sorry I didn't include that info in my original post. No dice on reserving a parking space, I assume.
Also, your heads up on the cancellations by Air Tran are discouraging especially because they don't make arrangements with alternative airlines. Even people with "normal" health have difficulty handling those situations, but I have a disability and just wouldn't have the energy to deal with all that. I usually fly American, pay more but I haven't had a problem with cancellations and plane changes with them. I'm trying to avoid that hassle.
