Glacier NP is gorgeous. We have gone there for a week 3 times in the last few years, staying on both the east and west sides. I wouldn't say the east side is necessarily drier; we go over there for the fantastic hiking, especially to Grinnell Glacier. Highline trail is also beautiful, and a stay at either Granite Park Chalet or Sperry is good if you can get it.
If you want to do the ranger-led hike to Grinnell Glacier, be sure and make your boat reservation in advance. That boat usually sells out.
Spirobulldog, we live in Seattle, and fwiw I'd take Glacier over Olympic NP any day, if your interest is hiking.

I had probably rather do Glacier, but the free flights to Seattle(I have two of them still on the old Southwest rewards system that will expire if I don't use them by next year)will probably dictate where I go.

Just saw this post.
If you have not booked in Sedona, please take a look at Sunset Chateau ( Hotels own web site )
We are staying there for 4 nights at Christmas time.
The rooms and resort look fantastic with beautiful views.
Trip Advisor has great reviews

Sando1 -- first of all, I recommend you start a new thread, titled something like, "Have three extra days in Utah, how to spend them?"
But in case nobody else answers your question, I'll say that a drive from Zion to Salt Lake City is a full day in each direction, with a full day in the city itself -- in other words, your entire time will be used up to visit this one place. Unless SLC is an absolute must-see AND you know you'll never return, it's not worth the drive.
Suggest instead Bryce Canyon NP, or Cedar Breaks NM, or Grand Staircase NM, or an extra day in Zion (there's TONS of good hiking there).
