Grand Canyon: Bright Angel Cabin question
Hi - we have a rim cabin reserved at Bright Angel at the Grand Canyon for mid October. Just got back from Yellowstone. We stayed at two different cabins there. One was fantastic the other was NOT. The one we didn't like was tiny, very shabby and worn and we felt like we were sharing the same room with our neighbors.
Can anyone tell me how the Bright Angel cabins compare? Just how bad is the tourist noise going by and how exposed do you feel?
Thanks - sue

The room we had at Bright Angel was small, but not tiny. The decor was rustic 50's, but clean. As far as noise, our room was very quiet. I guess it could depend on who's next door. We certainly didn't feel exposed to any noisy traffic. The best part of Bright Angel was the fabulous location, a few hundred feet from the rim. If you're looking for a 3* spacious, modern room, you'll be disappointed, but if simple and clean is ok, you should be fine.

Sue, I agree with previous reply. Room was not tiny, but certainly not large. It was however clean and we had no problem with noise and have stayed in both June and October. No better place to rise and shine. It is simply glorious to roll out of bed, grab a cup of java and walk to the rim!

We recently stayed at the Kachina Lodge next to Bright Angel. Definitely didn't have the same historic charm (at least from outside look) but it did have the reliability and comforts of a nice Holiday Inn and I think cost about $130 in August. Very quiet and recently updated.

We had a non-rim Bright Angel cabin and would stay there again with no hesitation. Ours was a double, but we had our adult kids with us so it was perfect for our needs.
They are not set back by much...it was a couple of minutes to the rim. Quiet. Rustic, but fine. Our last trip they were full and we ended up at Yavapai, where we had very nice accomodations but good grief was it noisy. Our rooms were toward the end of a corridor and we heard everyone that came and went.
You will really enjoy Bright Angel. They are perfect for their location and the decor is very appropriate for the feel of the GC.
