Hotel in South Rim of Grand canyon
My husband and I will be at the south rim of the Grand Canyon for one night, and we are looking for a hotel with views of the Canyon.
We are looking to spend about $150 per night.
Any recommendations?

My family stayed at Kachina Lodge in December in a canyon view room. It was around $125 per night. Very basic motel style room but great views. One evening there was even a California condor just over the rim outside the building.

My family and I had been there this past April and had stayed at the Maswik Lodge. It was very nice... had a cathedral ceiling w/ ceiling fan... very spacious and quite convenient. We also had 3 deer outside our window when we first arrived!
Unfortunately, the Maswik doesn't have canyon views... Thunderbird does, but no rooms were available the nights we needed. Bright Angel does also, but the rooms weren't adequate for us as they are very small... we were 3 people and I believe they only had room for 2.
I thought it would matter not having a view of the canyon... but it really didn't! Nature and beauty is all around and you can't see the canyon at night anyway!
The main thing is to definitely stay IN THE PARK!!!
Happy vacation!

We recently returned from the SW and spent 3 nights in one of the rimside cabins at Bright Angel. We would get up in the morning to watch the sunrise right outside our room, and then I would sit on our stoop looking at the canyon while writing in my journal. It was centrally located, very wonderful, and I would highly recommend it. Not all of the cabins are rimside so if you want one make sure you request it specifically.

Thunderbird and Kachina Lodges are rimside and some rooms at Bright Angel and El Tovar are rimside...I would definitely suggest the second floor of Kachina Lodge, large picture windows with in steps of the rim and close to ranger talks and all restaurants.
