I am staying at the Bright Angel Lodge in a few weeks. Does anyone have any comments about this hotel. Thanks

michael, stayed at Bright Angel Lodge about three years ago. It is the closest, most convenient lodging on the south rim, and you should enjoy your stay there. The Lodge is basic as far as amenities go, but clean and comfortable. Restaurant either in the building or very nearby (I forget). Gift shop right behind lodge. I wish I were going again - enjoy your stay.

as to what?...like the Thunderbird better...the rest.are Bright Angel coffee shoppe(enjoyed it),El Tovar, and the Steakhouse(excellent) at the end of the Bright Angel building? ...there is also a lounge in the BA...also cafe. and sports bar at the other two(not on the Rim lodgings)...been in the BA and cabins and was not impressed(that`s just me)...have been there before and just returned from there in March...do a Fodor search and you`ll find lots of info..took the scenic rim bus tour and one of the helicopter trips..enjoyed them...

My husband and I spent 3 nights in one of the Bright Angel cabins last November and it was just fine. Nothing fancy but then again, we went for the thrill of hiking in the canyon, not luxury sleeping accomdodations. The bed was plenty comfy, the shower was hot and the room was toasty warm - what more could you ask for?

p.s. If your answer is good coffee, then go to the El Tovar - second floor - complimentary coffee!

We stayed in a Bright Angel cabin in Februrary. We arrived at night, and so it wasn't until we got up the next morning to catch the sunrise over the canyon that we realized we were less than 100 yards from the canyon. Great spot. Cabins are nicely rustic, and have everything you need. Definitely recommend it.

Stayed in a BA cabin a few weeks ago. Not fancy (bed, TV, small desk, bathroom), but the price and certainly location were A+. We could actually see the canyon so it was convenient for sunrise viewing at the rim. What a treat to go to sleep thinking, "Hey, the GRAND CANYON is right over there!" Highly recommend the Arizona restaurant (better than El Tovar's in my opinion) at the end of the lodge. Take advantage of Ranger talks if you can. Have fun!

We stayed at the Bright Angel lodge for 4 nights last October. I agree with everything said so far, but want to add that the cabins are duplexes and if you have a noisy neighbor you can hear EVERYTHING going on next door.

we stayed in one of the rooms (not the cabins) several years ago. the bed was small for 2 people....we had a room w/ a bathroom (cheaper rooms share a communal bathroom)...but it only had a bathtub...no shower. no TV...the floors are made of wood so you can hear people walking in the other rooms and in the hall. despite all this, i don't remember it being a bad stay. i just wish i had brought a fan or something to block out the ambient noise. oh, and it was cheap....$40+ per night...back in 1996 anyway.
