Yeah, we finally got some tickets to see the Cubs on Aug. 15th!!! Here's the question...
It's cap day to the first 10,000 adults and of course the four of us want one! We are going to take the Red Line from our hotel that day to Wrigley Field. What time would you suggest being at the stadium to be one of the 10,000?(it is a 1:20 start. Should we grab breakfast in that area - or is it not the place for that? Thanks...we are soooo excited

There are a ton of restaurants right in the neighborhood around Wrigley so you won't be at a loss for choices. I would think if you got there by noon you would be in time to get a hat--for day games, alot of people seem to work a half day and head over so you they aren't there that early.)

Didn't even make the connection that that's a weekend game-I would suggest at least an hour ahead of time then.

Chicgal, is Heaven on Seven near Wrigley on Clark Street? If so, what kind of time are we talking to walk over to the stadium? Think it might be tight time wise as they only open at llam for brunch (they have a great website - are any of these other locations Wabash, Rush St, Naperville near downtown to enjoy perhaps another meal?).

Any other suggestions for a quick bite to eat (diner, cafe, etc) that serves breakfast earlier?

I think you are both on the mark about getting to the stadium an hour before (that's how its done in NYC for *yea! Mets* and *boo! Yankees* not very mature, I know) Since we are on vacation, we have the time to get there even earlier - getting the hat would make the experience even more exciting and worth the expense of those tickets!

I like to get to the Cubs games at least two hours before game time just to walk around the area. It's a great experience.

Heaven on Seven on Wabash is near the Marshall Field's on State St. but it's mostly for working folks so the hours are different. This is the original location and H on S purist insist it's the best (it's the only one I've tried so I have no opinion to offer).

H on S on Rush St. is near the Michigan Avenue shopping district.

Chicgal, I have not been to the House of Blues brunch but have heard good things about it. I thought the price was a little steep ($38) when I looked and I'm trying to stay away from all you can eat affairs

Yes, that's true about the entertainment and the cost. Someday I'll try it but I think for the upcoming brunch I need something a little lighter on the pocketbook.

If your friends are coming in the weekend of July 23-25, I have an offbeat suggestion for you. The little town of Whiting, about 1/2 hour south of Chicago, has Pierogi Fest that weekend, it's a lot of fun. I'm trying to get some people on another travel site to come down for it on Saturday, you're welcome to join us!

Too bad, should your plans change we are doing a bike tour/walking tour on Sat morning at 10 that's not listed on the schedule that starts at the community center, the parade on Friday night is a hoot (I'm usually in it!) and of course there's all the pierogis!

We're also trying to put together a brunch in the city, maybe at Cafe Iberico on LaSalle or Greek Islands, for Sunday, if you or anyone else is interested.
