Good place for lunch in Fairhope?

I know this is pretty specific, but we're going to take a little detour through Fairhope, Alabama on our way to the Gulf Shores in late June, so we wanted to know if there's a place that you'd recommend for lunch. We'll probably take a few hours to walk or drive around, too, because we've heard and read so many good things about it. It will be me, DH, and DS (3 yrs).

You can try Gambino's but I'm not sure if they're open for lunch.

There's also a couple of places downtown Fairhope like Julwin's and the Old Bay Steamer but it's been a while since I've been to either one. I also like the Original Oyster House on the causeway in daphne (about 20 minutes from Fairhope).

I love Julwin's homemade chicken salad and they have a great buffet at lunch! It's homestyle type food, and I look forward to lunch there whenever I'm in the neighborhood!

Also, I do like the Original Oyster House (there's also one in Gulf Shores right at that little bridge on Hwy 59 before you intersect with Hwy 182).
They have some great seafood!

Where is Fairhope (the Fodorite) these days??!! She must be on vacation, because I'm certain she could have steered you to the best places. Maybe she'll be back soon!

Southern Living magazine's Reader's Choice award goes to Julwin's.

Where IS Fairhope? Having fun and safe travels I hope!

Across the Mobile Bay from Mobile, AL. In Baldwin County on Hwy 98. It's a quaint, artsy town. Alot of expensive 'on the bay' homes.
Point Clear is not far away...where the Grand Hotel (elegant, old but newly refurbished - now a Marriott) is located on the bay.

Of COURSE, I believed our OSB! Just saw Fairhope's name back on the board and saw this thread while searching for another (food oriented search of course! ).

If anyone would know, OSB will know!

Wish you could head back over for the Atlanta GTG this year!

Thanks, and sorry to miss, but my only nephew's wife is having her baby shower Sat. That means I'll be a Great Aunt in September.
In fact, will stay with my sis in Fairhope this weekend. Want me to find out anything else while I'm there?
