What are the best general sites for hotel discounts? I don't want to use Priceline when traveling solo because I REALLY want to know which hotel I'm getting before I pay for it.

I'm willing to pay a LITTLE more to have the peace of mind knowing where I'll be staying. There are great websites for Lndon and other European cities - but am not familiar with similar sites for the US.

I would recommend quikbook.

Depends on where you are traveling to. Quikbook seems best for NYC, expedia for Las Vegas, hotwire for Los Angeles, and for some cities hotels.com is the only game in town.
Others include travelnow, tripreservations, travelworm, travelocity and orbitz.

skyauction.com is one of my favorites.

What happens to your reservation if that company you booked a hotel on internet will go out of business?

Travelweb.com covers the world and I have found them to be easy to use and reliable.

Try hotelkingdom.com. Got a great rate for a Chicago hotel. what I really liked was I pay the hotel and I could cancell if needed to.

Try luxurylink.com. We love it
