Good Eats for Family
We will be visiting the Seattle area at the beginning of August. What are some good restaurant suggestions (breakfast and dinner) with kids (12,9 and 4)? The two older kids are very good eaters. The 4 year old is your typical finnicky eater. We are staying in the downtown area around 5th and Pike. We are game for anything, and are looking for kid-friendly restaurants.
Thanks!

There is a restaurant with a fire place, very friendy waiters, I'm sure it will be kids-friendly, opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner, in the Sixth Avenue hotel, entrance from the 6th Ave. Even my old father who can easily compete with any 4 year old in being picky loved this place.

Well of course the Cheesecake Factory on Pike and 6th is a great family place with just about everything on the menu, do you have one where you are?
Also I would suggest The 5 Spot cafe on Queene Anne if you have access to a car (5 minutes from DT). It is a fantastic, casual place for any meal. The theme changes quarterly although they always have a basics menu too. This is a great "Seattle" establishment.
Ivars on the waterfront is good for lunch and dinner (the restaurant or the walk up bars).
Speghetti Factory in Beltown on Elliott is always a family favorite as is Cucina Cucina on lake Union (both 5 mins. away).
And there is a Gordon Biersch in Pacific Place which has everything from burgers to pizza and salads.

Lots of small places in the Pike Street Market area would be fun and good. You don't say how long you're going to be here, but it may be worth your while etting a book called Seattle Best Places (by Sasquatch Books) or even getting an Entertainment book (entertainment.com) which will save you money and give you a description and address and price range of various restaurants. The Westlake Center recommendation was good too. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.

The kids in my family love Pho. This is the Vietnamese national dish. It is wonderful and fun to eat. The best place to go is to 12th and Jackson area. That area is called Little Saigon. The Thanh Vi and the Pho 88 are really good ones. Get Pho Tai. That is thin sliced beef with noodles.
Have fun....

Is the Crab Pot still down in the Pike area? If so, your family would probably enjoy it if they like seafood. It's one of those places where they put butcher's paper down on the table, fling the seafood down and you throw the shells, etc. in a bucket. Really fun and really good food. Kind of gimmicky but isn't that what makes a vacation fun? I also second the Gordon Beirsch suggestion. Our kids love the one in Boulder, CO. Karen, could you post a trip report when you return? We're thinking about taking a family trip to Seattle since the kids have never been there. Such a neat city!
