We like Scoma's "Big Bowl o' Lazy Man's Ciopinno" too, but found some diff. cioppino at McCormick & Kuletos.
Less "soup", more elbow room and a better view.
For real good authentic cioppino, my
Italian father in law makes the best!
Esepcially when it's served over lightly toasted sourdough garlic toast.
And, it's that time of year again!

Another vote for Scoma's. As touristy as it is, they serve a great traditional cioppino (cho-pee-no), according to my husband who is the family shellfish expert. I am, unfortunately, allergic to any shellfish with an exoskeleton

Like Suzie, I also liked the caciucco at Little Joe's. It's fun to sit on the counter and watch the cooks prepare your dish. I thought I read somewhere that Little Joe's moved to a new location. Perhaps someone else can confirm that. Otherwise Tadich serves a classic cioppino.

Just in case you can venture to the North of S.F.-Lucas Wharf Restaurant
in Bodega Bay is the BEST we have ever had better than in the city-and the drive itself up SR1 is terrific-right on the bay-not polluted like SF. If the city is your only option-Tadich will do.

Little Joe's had the best cioppino years ago. Since it was moved to another location, we were not able to find it when we visited S.F. a couple of years ago. If anyone could give me the new address of Little Joe's, I'd love to try their cioppino when we go to S.F. next time!
