Going to NYC

Could anyone tell me the price of a taxi to Newark airport as I've never gone there always gone to JFK. I will be staying on west 55th street, I think. Will be there for my wedding anniversary, any recommendations for a special place to eat with the wife? Thanks.

It's probably $50-$60 with tolls and tip. You might try a shuttle van from your hotel, like BlueVan, you would need to make a reservation, and it would be much less expensive but probably will take more time to get there, as it will stop at other locations before heading out to the airport.

Another suggestion is to take the train to the airport. The Path train you can connect to Newark airport and it is a great way to get there.

Hope this helps.

Cheers wantsomesun, (won't find any in London!) I'll try and book BlueVan as soon as I get off the plane.

For the special place to eat - what cuisine? What budget? What type of atmosphere?

As long as you appreciate seafood, you couldn't have a more memorable dinner than LeBernardin, which is probably quite close to you (near 7th and 51st). It is fixe price at $84, and worth every penny and more.

Don't take a van. Order a car service. Telavivlimo.com or carmellimo.com charge the same as a cab (probably less).

For a special romantic place, go to the River Cafe in Brooklyn (rivercafe.com) Ab fab views, excellent food, very romantic.

Thanks to all who replied. My wife and I will eat most things, I think this comes from extensive travel through South East Asia, for a place to eat I would like good service, good choice of wines and good food.
