We're taking our two boys ages 8 and 9 to the World Series game this Saturday. We're staying at the Loews House of Blues. Were only able to get a room because we are a member of the hotel club. Has anyone heard of any activities going on related to the game? Any other fun things to do with kids this weekend in Chicago. I've never actually been and am really looking forward to the whole experience. Any good restaurants / fun stuff near our hotel. Please help!

Just curious, how did you get tickets? I know about 500 people who can't get them for love or money. Corporate?

I got through on Ticketmaster.com this morning. I was really surprised.

Got tickets for Sunday night in section 110, lower boxes for $185 plus $23 Ticketmaster charges.

I was just offered $1500 for each.

I'm not a baseball fan although my sports heart is with Chicago. The reason I will be in the city on Sunday is to see my beloved Bears, so I decided to give it a try this morning and I got lucky.

It would be nice to attend a WS game but for the kind of money I'm being offered? I may have to wait till the next one.......

And we have tried and tried to get through on Ticketmaster and never have luck. Two students here were crying over it. It's the phone lines. Where were you calling from AAFrequentFlyer? My people who get tickets have to call in from MN or Milwaukee. The blue collar nation is frying over who gets these tickets. Not fair, just like the world.

My son got them from MN the same way. The lines from 708, 815, 312, 773, 630 were useless. I tried www.ticketmaster on three different computers immediately and never got seats regardless of getting past the code words.

Be sure to go to the Children's Museum on Navy Pier. Soon, they'll be too old to enjoy it. Ditto for Lincoln Park Zoo. Of the formal museums, I think the Field (natural history) is best for boys that age, and has exhibits the whole family can enjoy. And, if you can, take the El train. Kids love it.

Look for announcements of public events via metromix.com I'm sure the city will come up with some good ideas. It's just that the world series is not something that was planned for.....

It's going to be cold all weekend and rainy on Sunday. That's the weather report anyway right now. Cold means 49.

I'm jealous after sitting a lifetime in stands with 5000 other people at times that people can take 8 and 9 years old to a game. Money talks. I know I'm absolutely wrong but that's how I feel.

I'm sure glad that the White Sox did offer the next season's ticket purchases World Series seats this year. But the Ticketmaster sales of the rest was something that the real fans aren't going to forget. Nor will we forget the pigs that are selling them right now for $1000 to $10,000 relative to location. That is the written name for them in all the papers, the pigs.

Another example of why my father, the ultimate baseball life, has refused to go to a game any longer. What happens to the true fans is sometimes disgusting.

Would we "could" live in a world where all the same people who were there at the Detroit series in September could get the same seats for the Series! But to wish for something like that you would be the same kind of person who thinks all parents should support and feed their own children, and that everybody in the world should be able to learn how to read. And we all know that isn't going to happen either.

Da Bears! Oh...I would take the kids to the Aquarium and Lincoln Park Zoo. Harry Carey's would be good for a stop as well as the Navy Pier. Swoosh the kids up the Sears Tower. Get the kids a Chicago style Pizza. Get your food heads up at the Hotel...there are so many.
