Then why you sylvia made a post? lol
This is so like lots of people here -'it should be the last post' but I want to post, so i will...

I am so upset by amount of people who are 'pretends' here. Pretending to be so modest and pure so thought of large wedding and lots of money and spending money is all frown upon and said 'unapropriate'...grrrrr
You HAVE to wake up some day and stop crying over a whole in your dish rug.
Time is changing and not everything SHOULD stay as yesterday. It is XXI century now and it is no time for sentiments.

Frankie! Good decision! Never be ashamed to give so you will not ashamed to receive. By next spring you will have for another gift and please, do me a favor...ask it here on Fodors...lol
Have FUN!!!

I think I'll start a trend. Please join me in it.

Here I go: The fancier the wedding, the cheaper the gift you 'provide'.

My reasoning: if you can afford a fancy super-duper wedding, then you 'obviously' don't need anything. Those having simple weddings 'obviously' do need more things because they cannot afford a fancy wedding.

Good circular logic there, right?

Or just give what you want and the happy couple doesnt' like it, maybe Ziana can store it in her basement.

Basement off limits with my own junk...lol
And yes, please, if wedding is simple - go ahead participate and give them some nice honeymoon or car down payment or house down payment...whatever...just do it! It is suppose to be a splurge!!!

Ziana,

I am glad that you are not one of my friends (I'm positive I would have nothing to do with someone with your values). I do pity the people who go to the trouble and expense to actually pick out a gift for you, only to have you store it in your basement or throw it away.

Have you told them that cash is the only option?

I would definitely not gonna be a friend to a person who read without thinking. And I would even more definitely will decline to be friend with a person who judjes by what written in forums.
But you...you can be very sorry for not choosing me as your friend because you are definitely could use something from my basement store and admire it for years to come.

Are you people aout of your mind? You going to tell me I HAVE to like stuff I don't? Or you teaching me how to LIE???

But Ziana, a few posts back you said something like "friends know each other and take care of each other." (not a quote)

If you claim to take such good care of your friends, how come they don't take care of you by giving you money???

Ziana clearly thinks I'm a "pretend" who's worried about being "modest." Not a matter of what's "unappropriate" or whatever she said (she could spend some time with a dictionary) LOL! It's a matter of whether you expect the world to revolve around you or not. I had a few moments when I was still an adolescent when I thought it did so I know where people like Ziana are coming from, but eventually most people grow up - but all too often that doesn't happen 'til after the "happily ever after" party, which some people think of in terms of an episode at the end of "The Bachelorette." Run credits!
