GLOBAL ENTRY ~ could it really be this easy?

My Global Entry expired during Covid. We realized it in April when my husband was allowed through upon reentry to the US and I wasn't. His then expired in May.

We both renewed 2 days ago and I received my approval today (!) It doesn't mention anything about an interview.

Am I reading this correctly? No interview needed?

If I ever need to show my card, will it be accepted with an expired date? I wasn't given an option for an updated card.

Thanks!

Yes that easy. I was mailed a new card and did not have to request it.

Thanks! I never heard of not needing an interview. And would have been nice if they had written, no interview required and a new card will be sent.
Now to see if the same happens with my husband!

(But I wish I could have a new picture! LOL)

I renewed last summer without an interview. It's not the same for everyone though. I recall a thread somewhere where the person was having quite a time booking the interview and was a bit miffed that I said I didn't need one. Not sure if that was here or not.

My husband and I were renewed without interviews earlier this year. I was sure I'd get called in, since their machine couldn't read my fingerprints during my original interview. That usually used to mean getting called back at renewal, but I think they're just too backed up right now.

I was renewed online without an interview, but my spouse made the mistake of inserting his nickname in the blank asking for ''other names" and his got kicked back, requiring an 'interview'. The interviews were backed up for months, or cancelled altogether, so his only option was to have the interview at the airport when he re-entered the US. It took about an hour and wasn't an interview at all, but he had to get re-fingerprinted and photographed.

So, word to the wise, don't make any changes on your renewal. His nickname is just the shortened version of his full name, yet wreaked all sorts of havoc.

Wish I had known! We decided last year not to renew GE because of the expected interview requirement and we opted for PreCheck. And we did go in person to an office in our town to complete the application process. Oh, well. No overseas trips in the planning stages anyway.

Yep my renewal was the same. I renewed in June with no interview and received my card shortly in the mail.

When I originally got my GE, I wouldn’t say I actually had an interview. I went in person, got my picture and fingerprinted and was done in 10 mins. The only question was, do I have any questions? I swore because of that, I would need to renew in person but nope.

I had to do interview, had new fingerprints and photo done, got email approval that evening and card with new photo a week or two later. Friend just had hers renewed online without interview, they just used previous picture on new card.

We've renewed twice. The first time, mr_go had to go in for an interview and I did not. At the second renewal, I had to go in for an interview (this was in late 2020, so well into the pandemic) and he did not. My interview lasted about 3 minutes - the agent took a new photo and asked me how I liked the program.

Interesting...I didn't get a new card with my renewal. We never use the cards anyway, we just input the numbers when we make our airline bookings.

WWWT here....does my heart good to know that YOU guys are getting this so fast. I realize that this is different than a GE renewal, but I have had a TSA pre-check for the last 100 years or so. I applied for GE on March 1 and I thought it would be easy-peasy b/c of my pre-check status. HA! I'm still in the "Pending" status for the GE.

I renewed my Global Entry a few months ago, I think, as I thought I might do international travel this summer. I didn't, but I remember I got it renewed in a very short time (maybe a month) and no, I wasn't required to go in for a new interview, either. I presume they do some kind of check on you as to your travel and or possible issues that might be suspicious. And maybe look at your history, although I think this was my first renewal, so it's not like I've had it several times renewed.

I got a new card automatically in the mail, also, which then has to be activated online. It states that the old one is deactivated. I do not know if the old one is deactivated if you don't active the new one or not, but I expect if someone didn't get one, it was lost in the mail as they do send them out. They just used my old photo, also, which kind of surprised me.

I renewed ours in January 2020 and it took a very short time.No interview needed. Friends had to be interviewed again; it must be random.
