glacier national park and where else
My husband and I are going to Glacier in July for 5 nights. Some people think that is too long there. Does anyone have any suggestions of someplace within an hour or so that we can stay for two of the nights? Also we want either a bed and breakfast or someplace simple (inexpensive yet nice) yet convenient to the park. Any advice?
Thanks,
Kathy

Well it depends on your interest. If you are hikers 5 nights will not be enough. What are your interests? Where are you planning lodging for the nights you are in Glacier. There is a ton of other things to do in glacier besides hike. Boat tours, Waterton, boating, fishing.

We love to hike and just see beautiful sights. We haven't chosen a place to stay yet. We're flying into Kalispell and will be spending the last night as close to the airport as possible since we have a 7am flight. Do you have any suggestions for places to stay? My sister-in-law went last summer and said we will be bored after three days top!

Since you like to hike. Why not consider staying at Sperry or Granite Chalet for 1 or 2 nights. It would be a most unique visit to something like that in any national park, and Glacier is about it for something like that. Similar to backpacking, except you don't have to pack the tent. Granite is more primitive, but would be my pick.

My husband is retiring in May and has requested we stay in someplace that he will be able to relax and be pampered just a little. He told me he would rather stay in town if it's not too far to drive to the park each day. We like to walk the trails and hike but only 5 miles at a time. We are more leisurely hikers than dedicated ones.

You might consider Glacier Lodge, Many Glacier, St. Mary, and Waterton Hotel. It would be a shame to not stay in at least one or two of these. At least dine in a couple of them. Waterton offers afternoon tea daily. Many Glacier or Saint Mary has Fondue in the afternoon. Perhaps do a couple of nights in the park and then the last 2 or 3 nights relaxing in b&b.
