A fun outing could be having high tea in the Tea Room at the Huntington Library. Shopping Colorado Blvd. in Old town Pasadena. Walking around San Marino. My favorite LA hotel is the Langham in Pasadena, former the Ritz-Carlton.

Love the Getty and check the various free tours. We loved the tour that talked about how the marble was brought from Europe and how the beautiful grounds were planted, etc.
As for the drive up Malibu/Coast Hiway 1 - a must do and I would suggest you do it early (avoid the traffic) and then maybe have breakfast/brunch up by Pepperdine - and you might even see a celeb or two if that rocks your chimes.

Dinner Saturday night at the Getty Center would be memorable. Maybe do something else during the day like drive up through Malibu or stroll Rodeo Drive, then see the Getty Center later in the day with a dinner reservation for their dining room (table with a view).
