Gift for Men from Switzerland/Liechtenstein
My husband and I are going to Switzerland and Liechtenstein next week and meeting with some distant relatives there. It is three different men all widowers. What would be a good item to bring from the US? My mind is a blank. Thanks for your help. Betty

Bring them a cap with your town.
A book with lots of pictures of your area might be nice.
A special coffee mug from your area might also be handy.
Take them out for a nice dinner. Now that's always appreciated.

If they aren't teetotalers, a bottle of liquor is never amiss, ideally something American that would be hard to get or expensive there. Can't help with specifics--maybe a really good Kentucky bourbon?

Don't bring maple syrup because they won't use it. Chocolate is OK but remember, we've got excellent chocolate too. Honey is a good idea although our honey is very good too.
A calendar of your area is always interesting.

The photo book would have been neat. My husband loves taking photos and would have loved doing that. But, I don't think with two days left we could pull that one off. Minnesota items could be good, honey ...you don't think they would use maple syrup? How about Wild Rice? We're from Minneapolis. Do you think a Twins Cap? I like also a nice dinner. the man in Switzerland is having us over for Swiss Fondue. I could bring wine but something from home would be so good. Thanks for all of your help. Betty

Fondue? You could bring a nice bottle of white wine to go with the fondue. It should be chilled, though.
I don't know what a Twins Cap is.
Wild rice might be a good idea but do you think they would know how to cook it? Wild rice is usually eaten with white rice here but we don't eat too much of it. Kind of expensive. I personally love wild rice. If it's easy to cook, then it might be just the right thing to bring.
